I’m sure we get targeted by other clubs and they will happily give away a free kick against us, knowing we’ll do absolutely nothing with it.

It’s not so much scoring directly from a free kick that grates on me, but I don’t feel we create many chances from them. Very rarely do we whip the ball in and someone gets on the end of it. We just aren’t a threat from a free kick.

I'm sure there's a dig about Kane taking ours in this thread & whilst I'll agree he's not who I'd put on them regardless of his scoring record from them, I'd much rather him be in the box for a chance at a header or the second ball.

But as I said last season when we had Bale, IMHO Kane must have a very good strike rate from them in training that Bale or José or another teammate would keep him on free kicks. If that is correct then some part is missing come match day or is flawed in training be that he's practicing against a wall full of short arses or he's gambling on match day that the opponent wall will or won't jump.

What appears to nix my reasoning now is how often we appear to prefer to take quick free kicks instead so perhaps the team/Conté knows it's a weak point.

Something I've noticed is an improvement in delivery from corners since AC arrived, however the FK and delivery from crosses in open play is still as poor as it's been going back a long way.

As another aside are we still the only side to not have been awarded a penalty in the league this season?

It must be so easy giving a team talk at the moment if you’re the opposition manager. “Just press them hard and hack them if they get anywhere near the box” should be more than enough.

The stats show the chances of scoring from a direct free kick are around 6%, or 1 in every 18 attempts. This isn't just a spurs thing

We could start by just trying to get one over the wall and on target. Small steps are needed!

Kane has had 53 free kick attempts in the Premier League and scored the one at Villa with the assist of a massive deflection.
Is it only 53 feels like 10,000. 9,900 have hit the wall including the only one that went in. In fact you would think he would want to be off them as he has scored at least 2 goals from getting on the end of rebounds from eriksen's kicks so far more chance of getting on the scoresheet that way.

Direct free kicks, indirect free kicks, throw ins, corners.

We are shocking at all of them.

What do you think they do all week in training?
