Unless he is happy not playing and just seeing out the last year of his contract, it makes absolutely no sense him staying and is in everyone's interests if he goes. Can't even make a valid claim to keep him as cover for the CB position because if has to come in and play, it would be an utter disaster in this system and compromise everything Postecoglou is trying to get us to do.

Glad Ange has not even had him on the subs bench and hopefully that's enough of a signal to Dier that his time at the club, certainly under Ange, is done. One thing I really like about Ange, he seems to be very clear in terms of the abilities players need to fit into his system. Unlikely we'll see try and put square pegs in round holes or trying to shoehorn players into the team who don't have the skillset for the system he wants to play.

His contract situation has a bearing on his minutes, that's my feeling. However if as others suggest..he doesn't fit the system... then it's best he moved on or he chips in here and there and moves on a free next year. Either way is fine with me.

It could just be fitness given he had surgery over summer. You’d think they would say that in the team news though.

Don't think it is fitness related. Played in the last friendly against Barca and looks to be there in training. Think Postecoglou was asked about injures in the pre match press conference and didn't mention him. Was asked about his omission after the Brentford game to I believe and again didn't mention fitness.

I just think Dier is the total opposite of what Ange wants in his CB's and you can't play the way he wants us to with someone like him at CB. It's a a style of play that requires players with specific abilities (something Postecoglou has referred to a
number of times) otherwise whole thing is likely to fall to pieces. High line/risk football with an oil tanker at CB is a recipe for disaster.

Hopefully we can move Dier on before the end of the window and good luck to him wherever he ends up at.

Straight swap for Tosin makes sense. Might even make sense for Fulham. He is better than Isa Diop
