Tottenham defender Eric Dier has agreed terms with Bayern Munich, sources have told Football Insider. The out-of-favour Spurs star, 29, is closing in on a sensational move to the German giants in which he will be reunited with former teammate and White Hart Lane legend Harry Kane.

It is believed that Dier has made up his mind to join Bayern in a deal fully endorsed by Kane and it will go through if and when Tottenham complete a new defender signing.

That doesn't surprise me. Mates with Kane and fills a need for dm there. Wonder if they'd like peh as well. 🤔

How does one 'sensationally agree terms', did he do it whilst skydiving, whilst fighting a crocodile, whilst balancing on a beam 100ft in the air?

It doesn't surprise you that one of the best clubs in Europe have signed someone who hasn't played as a DM in about 6 years, to play as a DM? Add to that he has been a pretty poor CB in that time too. It's very weird to me. We've had a pretty desperate need for a DM at times recently and even we didn't use him there.

Was a very good player for us early on and his versatility was a huge bonus but too many concentration issues crept into his game. Doesn't complain much and seems like a great guy. Would love it if he had a bit of a flourish to his career at this stage but as I say, very odd move even though he's been linked for ages.

No it doesn't. It has been mooted for a few months now. And Bayern aren't looking for a pure dm, they were reportedly looking for someone who could cover both cb and dm when playing a dm is required. Dier fits that description fairly well. And I think a new start would be good for him mentality and concentration-wise as well.

If it does happen, I suspect he'll do quite well there.

I think it's sensational in the way that Bayern Munich think his good enough for them and i'm sensationally delighted if true😀

Can't post in the Dier thread now as it has moved.

Funny how some fans think he is God awful stealing a living, but Bayern Munich and Thomas Tuchel want him isn't it? Hope it happens, I hope he is happy and is successful wherever he goes. He has earned it after a decade here.

I love Eric Dier. Eric Dier loves me.

I think he gets far more criticism than he deserves from Spurs fans, but he's not very suited to our current system and is likely to look better in the Bundesliga than the PL, so it could be a good transfer for both clubs.

Literally no one has said this though. You're making up opinions to disagree with. Most people think he's been a good servant but his levels have been inconsistent or generally poor in the last couple of years when he's played. And certainly no one here will be hoping he fails. As for Bayern wanting him it doesn't mean much. Big clubs make odd signings a lot. I thought it was mad when Real signed Faubert, I thought it was mad when Barca signed Martin Brathwaite and Kevin Prince Boateng, and I thought it was utterly unfathomable as to why PSG signed Stambouli. Dier isn't on those levels but I'll be quite surprised if he's a revelation over there.

It seems like they’re just buying a mate for Kane tbh 😂

He’s their main asset, got to keep him happy

I doubt it. They’re running a major football club, not an after school kick around. If they’re buying him it must be because they think he can do a job for him. Possibly Kane has been an influential voice but Tuchel and their scouts will know all about Dier anyway.

If BM consider him an asset to their side then that sums up the quality of their league.
Don't see how. The Bundesliga is very competitive nowadays. Although the premier league is the toughest the matches in Germany are of a much higher quality than a lot of the stuff I see over here.
