He’s a good lad. I’d back whatever choice he makes but I’d be surprised if that’s true. We do need to move him on though. He could still comfortably do a good job for 50% of PL teams.

yes

I don't. but doesn't mean that I can't have an opinion on the type of person I think/thought he is.
Let’s wave £200,000 a week under your snout and see where you end up 😂

The guy has 1 year left on his Spurs contract, and would be looking at a serious pay cut. He would be stupid to reject an offer from anywhere, for what could potentially double his current wage at this stage of his career.

Good luck to him I say.

Look around page 280-320.

Its almost like people have no memories. He's had good and bad periods.
And people wonder why players don’t show much loyalty these days, people talk so much shit it’s unreal. Dier has not been great all the time, that’s fair enough, but he was a competent CDM under Poch and has had periods of being a solid CB also.

Regardless of the Saudi links, he’s surely going to be one of the players we look to move on.

Objectively a poor fit for Ange’s tactics, not in the matchday squad today, only a year left on his contract so will lose him on a free if we don’t shift him now, and he takes up a scarce non-HG spot.

It all lines up to him going.

Not when I remember the pain of his multiple painful mistakes and absolute heartache and anger caused by lack of confidence.
He was great when poch used him in the position he planned for Morgan Schneiderlin when that didn’t happen. He has also played well for us and been a warrior for periods. The last few years not his best, but that can be said of many and the club itself. If he moves on i’ll wish him well no need to slate the bloke.

Per Ali Gold - people making something out of nothing:

The defender found himself at the centre of social media furore over "unfollowing Spurs" on Instagram and not having them in his bio on the site, despite not actually following Tottenham or England for years on his account or having anything to do with them in his bio previously. There was also a claimed deleted post about the captaincy, which was actually just a screenshot by a mischievous Twitter user a post published by Dier in March about the movie Captain Phillips.

Dier ended up following Tottenham on the platform this week, presumably just to quieten the social media nonsense.

It did not work but the fact that the defender is not in the squad suggests his place in the pecking order at the moment, in terms of fitness and perhaps suitability for the Postecoglou backline. Dier wants to remain at Spurs this season but with his contract in its final year and Postecoglou wanting another centre-back to arrive that situation may have to change.
Ali Gold is actually wrong about the part in bold. He was following England (as well as Sporting), whent he wasn't following Spurs the other day.

I don't believe there was anything in not following us, just pointing out the part about not following England was wrong.

It's just an example.

I could throw in many players.

Like Chris Armstrong, who got 1 in 2 for us, but was disliked, because he wasn't Klinsmann.
Not the thread for it, but Chris Armstrong was so average. Sheringham put everything on a plate for him, he still missed an obscene amount of chances. Deserved the same respect as Klinsmann? No chance...

Anyway I have come here because I heard rumour of Dier going to Arabia, any truth in this?

Football is harsh and footy fans can be proper *****. I've absolutely nothing against the guy, he seems like he's actually a great person but this isn't about the person its about the football player and he just doesn't have the attributes to play in a high line. I hope he can find a move to a club he wants to play for and he can be a success there. Thanks for some good memories like Fabregas shitting his pants at the Battle of the Bridge.

Tottenham defender Eric Dier remains "part of this team" despite missing their 2-2 draw at Brentford, says manager Ange Postecoglou.

The new Spurs boss left the England international out of his squad for Sunday's season opener.

Dier, who joined Spurs in 2014, was overlooked for the captaincy following Harry Kane's departure and has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

"Eric is in the same boat as all the other boys," Postecoglou said.

"Eric is part of this team. He's working hard in training and is available for selection."

After Kane's move to Bayern Munich, Postecoglou named Son Heung-min as the club's new skipper with James Maddison and Cristian Romero listed as vice-captains.

Romero and new signing Micky van de Ven started at centre-half against Brentford, with Davinson Sanchez replacing Romero after 14 minutes.

Dier was one of several senior players left out for Sunday's game along with Hugo Lloris, Djed Spence, Japhet Tanganga, Sergio Reguilon and Tanguy Ndombele.

"We left a few out and we left some players on the bench that are very good players," Postecoglou added. "We need a strong squad, it's not about 11 players.

"My decisions then are what I think will give us the best chance of success for any given game and then we reassess the week after. There's nothing really unusual there."

Only Kane, Son and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg made more league starts for Spurs last season than Dier (31), who has one year left on his contract.

Why is there so much talk of sanchez and tanganga needed to go before we bring another centre back and nothing on dier?

Just find it extremely odd. The guy has 12 months on his contract. Unless the club want to extend it they have to be actively looking to sell him now
