He's a great lad, but sadly been on the decline ever since his appendicitis. He's lost all his mobility and has had to bulk up too much to compensate. A real shame because he was genuinely promising at DM beforehand.

If he dropped down a division I reckon he'd do great in the championship but I'd be really worried him coping in the premier league.

Maybe best suited to an Everton?
Hook up with Dele?
In a Dyche system that could work well for him.

Maybe I’m missing something but it baffles me when players are happy to just sit and not barely play football for a season 🤷🏻‍♂️

Maybe he wants a loan rather than a sale this season so he can stay on higher Spurs wages then look for a signing-on fee at a club next season when he leaves on a free?

If that is the case it's not ideal as we're gonna be tight for loan slots, I think.

Bit of a gamble since it looks pretty unlikely he'll get many minutes. Players can disappear without trace in situations like this where they don't get seen enough.

Why would he want a permanent transfer now? Unless I'm mistaking it he will earn far more and have more choice in a year so ai can absolutely see why he doesn't want to leave now.

A loan suits him I'd suspect and is likely our only option.

Maybe he has ambitions to play football?

The report doesn't say he doesnt though. It says he doesn't want to leave on a permanent now and a move abroad is most likely next year on a free but he is open to a loan.

Seems perfectly understandable to me and exactly what I'd do if I were in his position.

Yeah but if he gets a good loan he's as likely to get minutes as he would if he gets a good transfer...

If he stays at Spurs he'll barely play at all of course, so I don't think he'd want to just sit around doing nothing unless he's either deluded or has given up.

Going back to Sporting makes perfect sense for him. Imagine he'd have a shout at captain there too and get to play his prime years still in the CL and a top league

That would be a nice story, actually. Would be great for him to go back to where he grew up after all these years.

This isnt intimated at all. Quite the opposite.

At this point though, a move abroad next year still feels like the most likely outcome, especially as it would only take one injury for Dier to potentially return to the first-team picture in the next few weeks.

Fair enough. He is reportedly on 85k a week so if a club can pay that plus say a 2.5m loan fee then that's 7m total
