Also when fit we have the best midfield in the prem so he should have that many assists. he makes andy cole look like van nistlroy.

I know, I agree, but given Defoe's good strike rate I don't see why we should necessarily be so worried about turning to him when Adebayor has shit games. Newcastle was Adebayor's first game contributing either a goal or an assist since Norwich back in December.

But who do you play alongside him? For me, Defoe is only really effective playing alongside Adebayor or possibly Saha (so I guess that answers my own question). I love the little guy, but he only really fits into the role that I would usually reserve for VdV.

This season has been great, but moving on again we really need two strikers for each role, and that means purchasing Adebayor and one other who can play alone (assuming that Saha is only really a stop gap). Whether Defoe is happy to fight it out with VdV, who will always be an obvious starter when fit, is up to him.

i play against better finishers on a tuesday evening than him. we all pay £4 to play. And he should already be on 20 goals this season.

Fuck it. Let's be brutally honest-he probably should have bagged 20 by now. I still think you boys are getting a bit excited.

I think the way we treat him as a sticking post is stupid.

We twat the ball into his stomach and expect him to be able to control it and make something against top defences. It'd be lovely if we learned to cross a ball accurately or play a through ball every now and again.

When Adebayor handled the ball a couple of minutes after the goal dissallowed incident, the mexican **** doing commentary for ESPN latinamerica said the ref got it wrong for not booking Adebayor for repeated offence.

I wanted to pick up my couch and slam it against my tv. :bang:

I'm an Adebayor fan though i have to admit I have become a little frustrated by his inconsistancies regards to him scoring crucial goals...I don't think he does that enough. Adebayor has allowed Bale to increase his goal ratio because he is an intelliegent footballer but I would like to see him score more vital goals ie winning goals.

Should we buy him? yes, but I'd also like for us to buy another quality striker.

He's not worth his insane wages, but then I'm not sure many footballers are.

There's as usual an incredible nonsense reaction in here about him, people obviously forgetting we've been watching shit****s like Pav, Keane and Crouch most recently.

If Ade is 'shit' what the fuck were they? Did they even get 11 goals and 12 assists (approx..) between them last year?

Exactly this.

People need to realise that the strikers who have the least flaws in their game will not be playing for spurs because we can't afford them!

We could sign messi and people would still find something to moan about, we have a striker who would get in most teams starting line ups but we decide we'll hammer him, when was the last time we praised one of our forwards, I honestly can't remember.

I try really hard to praise Adebayor but it is sometimes difficult. Perhaps I notice his clumsiness and mistakes more than anyone else's but they do tend to be very blatant.

When he's on song, he's a delight but recently I've felt he can be more of a liability than an asset. I know that his accuracy in passing can be very useful at times - when he can control and keep hold of the ball (not using his hands).

Reading back on that it may seem harsh, but I have to be honest about how I see him. I don't think we should retain him, we need someone better up front.

Adebayor is a great player for the right money and frankly we've not signed him to bang in loads of goals but to contribute to the goals we score (which he has done well) and to provide some great link up play - which he has done.

His current market value IMO is something like:

£10-15m sign on fee.
£60-80k per week in wages.

He certainly isn't worth £25m + £170k per week.

If we can get him on a deal akin to the above, then it is worth doing IMO.

I think the only way this deal will work though is that he buys out the remainder of his contract at City - with City's approval of this. I reckon this would cost him something in the region of £3m.

We then sign him on a £70k per week contract on a 3 year deal with a two year option.

To compensate him for his loss of income we agree to pay for the cost of him buying out his contract plus a further £50k per week over 3 years in a lump sum - £8m.

That way we've then paid circa £11m for him and have him on a sensible wage.
