How can people be saying sign up Pogrebnyak after what, three decent games?

Commoli bought Pav after 3 games in the Euros. Pogrebnyak has always been the better striker out of those 2. Shame he was injured.

If we are chasing the likes of Hazard then, no.

Ade has Blown hot and cold for us this year and that's with no guarantees of a club to play at next season. Would'nt like to see how relaxed he gets once his feet are under the table.

He's supposed to be selling himself this year but I think he needs to do better as he does'nt look like he's capable of recapturing the form of his old self.

If we're short of options in the summer and we can't attract the likes of Soldado, Llorente etc...

Then yes.

at 100k plus a week no. he doesnt score enough goals, and his first touch is poor.

Llorente would be far better

I'm sure if we had won today it would be a resounding yes.

If the finances stack up its a big yes.

he's a rich mans peter crouch to be honest. and i kinda mean that as a compliment. His presence helps the team quite alot though isnt great at scoring as his career records show

we really need a clincal 20 goal plus player but i wouldnt be against signing him, bale and vdv will get you 10 goals a season or more from midfield

Ba has a chronic knee issue that means we ant get insurance for him if we spend 7 million in him (which is his clause)... Thats why stoke never signed him and he is only a worth while risk on a free.... Apparently it is ready to go at any moment hence the short term contracts etc.

With West Ham and now Newcastle he has played a year without missing a game with injury, I think it is entirely possible that Stoke's doctors over exaggerated his condition

His finishing can be frustrating, but he still brings a massive amount to this side, you only have to look at the number of goals others are scoring to appreciate his contribution. FFS he's seldom isn't involved in some capacity in every goal we score.

On a slight tangent, he needs to be dropped for the next league game. Despite Defoe scoring almost twice as frequently* Adebayor's place in the team has never been under threat. There are times when he really looks like he couldn't give a shit, because he knows he'll play regardless.

*Defoe scores once every 104.8 minutes, Adebayor every 192.1

If we go 2 up front next time out then it should be Saha and Defoe.

And no, I've never wanted to sign him long-term. He's done great for us this yr. Not so much his prolific goal-scoring but the way he allows the rest of the team to play. He's far far too expensive for what he brings though. And we don't know how he'd react if given a guaranteed phat weekly wage. All we can go in history is his previous form (life-changing events aside) and it hasn't worked out long-term or even medium-term too well for him elswhere.

Ideally we manage to get Leandro or Llorente and AN Other. Soldado is a great shout. He's like JD but with skillz and intelligence.

No!!! frikin way. He is dog shit. Get clint dempsey in. Half the fee and half the wages. Twice the effort. And he is scoring more every season he is in this country. He is better infront of goal, better at holding up the ball and better at heading. Stop trying to get Grade 1 world strikers that we cant afford. And improve on what we have. ade is an improvment on crouch. end of.

He is in double figures for assists as well though, to be fair to him. But I agree about Saha and Defoe next time, if we do play two strikers. It just annoys me how sometimes he puts in no more effort than Pav at his worst but whereas Pav would be left out for ages, Adebayor is seemingly undroppable. Which given the options we have now with Saha as well as Defoe and van der Vaart, I don't think he is as crucial to the team as we thought he was earlier in the season.

I can't argue that Defoe is more clinical in front of goal, but Adebayor brings so much more to the overall team play. He holds the ball up well, draws defenders away and creates space for others to play in. I like Defoe, but he can't play the role that Adebayor does.

I know, I agree, but given Defoe's good strike rate I don't see why we should necessarily be so worried about turning to him when Adebayor has shit games. Newcastle was Adebayor's first game contributing either a goal or an assist since Norwich back in December.

11 goals and 12 assists isn't bad.

I wouldn't be one bit surprised if he ends up with 20 goals and 20 assists by the end of the season, particularly considering our run in.

If he gets even close to those figures, how anybody can call him dog shit is beyond me.

i play against better finishers on a tuesday evening than him. we all pay £4 to play. And he should already be on 20 goals this season.
