Straight to the point - should we pursue him at the end of the season for a permanent transfer and all that ensues or do we look to do business else where.

Personally speaking, he's brought a lot of good moments and a good focal point up top which was personified in the Liverpool and Newcastle games, but has he really earnt a big money move to us and for us to break our wage structure on someone who has been profligate in front of goal and hasn't been at the races in quite a few games of late.

Apologies if it's come across as a knee-jerk thread but it's one in which I want to gauge opinion.

i believe we should.

I know he's been a bit hit and miss, but i cant imagine who we could get that is any better in that role?

I think we need to be looking elsewhere to strengthen the rest of our attack - as much as i like JD, and Saha seems to have settled in well, i think we need 1 more - someone with something different about them.

Too expensive for a long term soloution to our no.1 problem.... We need to find someone like when we found berbs or luka...

Go for Ba and Pogsbresnev but not Adebayor for me.
He has the ability to play like he did against Newcastle but too often plays like he did Watford away.
Not worth breaking the wage structure for. He needs to do more and personally I think he'd be more use as a problem for City under FFP.

Too expensive for someone who is not quite sure whether he can be bothered or not.

Ba has a chronic knee issue that means we ant get insurance for him if we spend 7 million in him (which is his clause)... Thats why stoke never signed him and he is only a worth while risk on a free.... Apparently it is ready to go at any moment hence the short term contracts etc.

I'm surprised there are so many people who can't appreciate what else he brings to our game. Of course we should sign him if possible!

His control and first touch is shocking and his finishing is pretty shit. Other than that he's a decent player. :-|

I vote no.

For the money being talked about, no way - would rather take a risk on Damiao, or Ba's knee.
Ade has been a great improvement on Crouch but his performances recently have been increasingly frustrating. Yes, some good hold up play, but he always seems so awkward on the ball and he's hardly been the predatory no.9, lethal in the box - he's always out on the left wing, or deep on the halfway line.

Oh yes 1 good performance in every 4 games and his continuous nack of getting caught offside....

How can people be saying sign up Pogrebnyak after what, three decent games?

No.

His first touch and general play aren't consistent enough and finishing doesn't come naturally to him.

It's a tricky one for sure and I'm not overly sure myself which way we should go - on form he's the perfect type of striker for us and also is a big name which in itself will attract other high profile players to the club.

On the flip side, you get games where he can't trap a bag of cement and incredibly wasteful in front of goal alongside the implications of blowing our wage structure which will obviously have the collateral with the likes of Bale, Rafa, Luka etc wanting parity.

Success stories like Demba Ba make this transfer even harder to convince our board that securing Ade is the way forward both on the pitch and from a financial viewpoint but I do maintain that we will need a high profile striker to lead our line next year to appease the players, potential new management and us fans alike.

For the money we'd throw his way we could probably get the same type of player who'd give more of a shit, more often.

He's better than anything we had for three whole seasons before him. I doubt it's all that easy to sign a better alternative. Let alone two, if we want back up for a lone striker. Who else that good documentably wants to come to us? If the money is tolerable to Levy, even barely, I think the football case is clear cut.

NO!!! As a loan signing he is a excellant piece of business done by us as we are not paying his wages in full. As a permenant signing it's a massive NO for me as he aint worth the wages we will have to shell out for him. I would rather we went for a young up and coming striker instead or proven quality like KJH.....

For what he brings to the overall team dynamic, he has been worth his weight in gold (which coincidentally, is what Man City have been paying him). I think he is a player that is available, wants to play for us and is what we need, so for me it's a massive yes. However, this does not mean that we should stop looking elsewhere for competition for Ade - I think he needs it.
