Surely VDV for Alli, with Eriksen wide? (even if we're ignoring the whole 'VDV under Poch, ha!' debate) ;)

LOL at people keeping in Alli at all costs tho. He's going to be great but right now, I wouldn't even play him every game with the squad we have, let alone with historical upgrades

Ledley and Toby would be a dream at the back, think how mean our defense would be.

For me if we are talking recent ex players Ledley, Modric and Bale in this team would literally make me jizz everywhere each time we play.

But anyone have actual suggestions of realistic players they would like to add to the squad, i've mentioned 3 - Isco, Coric and B. Silva.....

Yeah, fair point. I just swapped VDV for Eriksen as he's the natural replacement and VDV is/was simply better. I'm a massive fan of Ali, but agree he's off form and with Son in such great from Ali could probably do with a spell on the bench once Dembele is fit.

Would be amazing if Bale came back at some stage but I can't see it, same goes for Modric.

I like Isco but the one player who was available that I would have pushed the boat our for would have been Gotze. Too late now but he could play in the system.

I see we have been linked with Niklas Süle. I think he was injured last year or the year before, he's an absolute beast of a CB, 6ft 5 powerful, quick, good on the ball and only 21. Would cost north of 25m. But could be an excellent addition to our CBs (none of them come close to his physical stature), Toby is our number 1 CB, but i do feel and this may get a few disagree's that Verts is a good CB but worries me. The perfect combination for CBs has always been the reader, ball playing CB Toby with someone that is more physical and can dominate the air, as defensively for me our weakness is crosses.

So my list is now AM - Isco, Bernardo Silva and Coric (one of)
CB - Niklas Süle

These two additions would round of our squad very well.

If i could choose 3 players from yesteryears to be in this squad, the team would be

Lloris
Walker Toby King Rose
Dier Dembele
Lamela Hoddle Son
Berbatov

Could you really see Berbatov in a Pochettino team?

What about Klinsman?

Searing pace at AM and SC and Verts isn't quite as consistent as he was a couple of years ago. There are always ways to improve.

Never said it was a pochettino team. This is my team.

Berbatov was a genius. Far better than klinsmann imo. With berbs n hoddle there, son n lamela woud thrive with these 2 bosses providing them the flicks n through balls

Q: Best Spurs squad in years, what's missing?

A: Rafael Van Der Vaart

It still hurts.

Granted Berbatov played very well for us, but Klinsmann was one of the best strikers in the world during the early and mid 90s. There's no comparison.

The only fly in your corretly positive ointment is what we are reported to be able to pay in terms of players salary.

We know that lots of players demand 200K plus a week wages these days and who can blame them if someone will pay it but this will always stop us getting the Bale/Modric/Aguero/Giroud being mentioned in this thread.

I cant be anything than delighted with where we are at the moment though, I really like how our club is doing things at the moment I just hope that should Poch take us to greater heights and be lured elsewhere we recognise the sense in this model.

I love that we are playing away in Moscow in the CL, the game is in the balance and he brings on Harry Winks, it would be easy to overlook what a masterstroke moves like this are, the incentive these things give the entire playing staff must be huge.

What way to get the boys working.

As a squad we're not missing anything. We have a strong starting eleven, a strong second eleven, and a few decent youngsters as third choices.

However, individually, we are not as strong going forward as we have been in the last decade.
Carrick, Modric, Bale, VdV, and Berbs could all stroll into this side.
Conversely, we haven't even been close defensively as we now have our best back five for as long as I can remember.
Only Ledley and Woodgate would get in this side and that would only be at the expense of Vertonghen.

Come the summer we only need to target really top class players. The fact we were showing a strong interest in the likes of Gotze and Isco would also point towards this. But I think we need a second CL qualification before we start to attract players at that level.

Winning mentality

Hopefully when Pochettino does get his 1st trophy the floodgates will open
