Are you suggesting that you think Giovani is better than Lennon?!

"Dribbling is about the same"?! Fuck right off. Lennon is one of the best dribblers of the ball in the world, and most of the time Giovani's tried to beat someone with the ball in a Tottenham shirt, he's failed miserably.

There is also a lot of point in humiliating a left back time after time even if the cross afterwards isn't perfect (although Lennon's crossing is actually good enough now overall I'd say) because it still wears the left back down and puts them off the pace, along with the whole time. It just gives you and your team a boost when you manage to make a fool out of them by beating them so easily, and it oftens creates chances or at least half-chances anyway.

Totally agree - remember Blackburn at the lane this season - I've said it before and I'll say it again - It was a stunning display which single handedly won us the game, part of which was getting the LB sent off after 30 odd mins!

would be mad to sell him. he's exactly what we need - a versatile impact sub. we're going to be spending the millions on a CB/CM/LW/CF so we should be glad that we have gio, who can take bentley's position as backup to lennon, offer cover for LW and work as an understudy to modric (if he's playing as a supporting striker next season). i think 1 of gio/taarabt has to go as they are both battling for similar positions, and from what i've seen so far, taarabt should be the one to leave.

I don't think you can play Luka, Lennon and GDS in the same team. I think we should rotate the three to keep all 3 fresh.

I'm GDS biggest fan on here and have been ripped apart for my views on him. So. What do you have to do?

I LOVE THE IDEA OF GIOVANI.

Thats pretty much what you lot who idolise the boy to his very core are basing their views on.

It certainly isn't based on him playing in a Spurs shirt, or playing against top quality opposition or performing for a whole game or looking match sharp or being fast or being a good dribbler....no, it's based on the idea that he is a good player....honest guv...his agent says so...he's the next ronaldinho...without the pace, a fraction of the skill and a fraction of the ability.

Yet he played a whole season at Barcelona. A team much much much better than Spurs.

Blimey, steady on.

GDS needs Premiership conditioning. Something he doesn't have but Lennon does. However he has no trouble getting to the ball or dribbling past players. Numerous vids on YouTube show that. And these aren't nescessarily slow matches either. You make him sound like Huddlestone.

If you think Lennon's crossing is up to scratch, then that's fine and perogative but for what we're aiming at - top 5, 4, IMO he is a way off and barely improving, if at all. What he lacks in crossing he may make up for in dribbing but that's not really the point for a Premiership winger.

Wearing down a LB is all fine and well but its goals and results that count. Lennon has had a good season. I voted for him in the awards and I do like him. He's still got a way to go. So does GDS but I think there's enough in him to warrant a place in the squad, if not the team.

If I was chatting bullshit, it would mean he didnt play for Barcalona. You are just overacting because you forgot/did not know he has already played at a higher level than Spurs.

He

Played

For

Barcelona

You have to be amazing just to get on their squad. Let alone on the pitch.

I like him on the right wing. I know he prefers to play the number 10 role behind the striker, but he's always looked best on the right. His first goal shows how effective he is when he cuts in on his right foot. He also scored a wonder goal from that side in the UEFA Cup. I hope we sell Taarabt and keep Giovani. There hasn't really been anything concrete about harry not wanting him, just rumours. Hopefully he did enough at Ipswich and shows enough from 6th July when he returns to training, to convince Harry.

I would like to see Bale and Modric on the left, Lennon and Giovani on the right next season (not at the same time obviously ). So we have the options between natural wide players and players who cut infield. We can combine the 2 like we do with Lennon and Modric, or even go with 2 natural wide players, depending on the opposition.

I agree with all that it would give us good options and quality depth. Bale is the only question mark for me he's going to make one hell of an attacking fullback when he gets his act together. The Johnson kid from boro would be a good LW back-up or impact sub.

Nah. Lennon has to be on the right through merit.

IMO 2 of Modric, Gio and Lennon should play at all times. And fitness/form should dictate who plays when.

I have the same opinion.....as long as the 2 are ALWAYS Modric and Lennon.

Seriously mate where does this Gio love come from?

Yeah of course Lennon is our RW starter and Gio if he gets his act together would be a quality impact sub or RW back up but then again would Gio really be willing to play second fiddle when he could go back to la liga and start every game for alot of teams? Also Gio fits best into a 433 in the Messi role so again he's not your typical 442 right winger more a right sided forward who does little tracking back. There's alot of question marks over the kid not to mention the rumours of him showing up late to training on occassion but he does have undoubted potential so it will be interesting to see how Harry handles him. Truth be told I reckon he'll be gone this summer.

I'd like to keep him as he looks a good player - I know it's not much to go on but saw him against Leyton Orient in pre-season and his skill on the ball was amazing!

Whenever I've named a team on SC I've tended to put him on the bench when available - couldn't fit him into the team at the moment but he provides a great option on the bench as can come on for either wide player or replace a striker.

It's the fact that the kid has loads of potential and the season before we bought him played in over 30 games for Barcelona. He's an exciting prospect for the future even if he does leave Tottenham he'll still go on to become a quality player. I don't think we play the right system for him here as I stated in my previous post he's more of a 433 right sided forward than a right winger like Lennon. He's got alot more potential than any other youngster on the fringes of the first team at Tottenham and is already a star player for his national team more highly rated than Vela of the scum so that's probably were the Gio love comes from.

There is a flip side. Remarks like yours above when he just scored 2 goals.
