I get we don’t like to admit he’s a decent player because he plays for the gooners, but he is a tidy player with a great engine who’s looked really solid at RWB/RB. The fact he did well either in a back 5 or back 4, as well as CM/RW shows how useful he is as a squad player. He actually reminds me of Ben Davies in terms of being a solid, if unspectacular contributor (different play style obvs), and I’d take that on the right side in a heartbeat after the last few years at RB with Serge and Trips!

Also, RB is pretty locked up at Arsenal atm with Bellerin and Willian is their new utility attacker, plus they seem to be working on three mega deals in Gabriel, Partey and Aouar. It makes sense why Maitland-Niles would be the odd one out, even if he’s a good player. Can see him playing way better for us than them.

Can we swap with ndombele with h.aouar?

This hardly seems likely. I understand why we’d be interested, he could easily play the role Sissoko has been playing and if we’re only signing RB, be cover for that position too, but I can’t see Arsenal selling to us if they at all rate him. It just wouldn’t make sense.

Strange link and not sure why Arsenal would sell to us.

I think he would be a great squad addition, we don't have many "utility" players in our squad, not going to be a nailed on starter but greatly improves our options from the bench and good cover for injuries.

Where would Liverpool be without Milner or Oxlaide-Chamberlain? The amount of games they have covered at full back, cm, even in the front 3 allows them to not have to change their tactics dramatically due to injuries, which we have been guilty off for a few seasons.

Like I said though, doubt Arsenal would sell to us.

This sums it up well. Good athlete, good attitude, good versatility.

Two major ifs that have been set out elsewhere: (1) Arsenal would be so concerned about being embarrassed (if he came to us and did well, they'd look like muppets) that the fee they'd charge would be crazy and (2) would he be happy coming to us in that utility-like role?

If we can get there for a decent fee, then I'd be supportive

Could be interesting if it was on a free, but I don't want us to give them a single pound.

Another possible scapegoat signing. Fuck me, if we sign them all some of you really will be burning the midnight oil after games.

Actually, it might work positively, there would be so many scapegoats that it gets diluted a bit because those with the penchant for doing it simply haven't got the time to cover it all.

will be Hart for me?. Just wait til he ships 4 against SUFC.

“White Hart Pain”

Sheer Hart Attack”

and so on ?

This seems to shed a bit more light on a potential deal:

Essentially Arsenal need the money, despite Arteta wanting to keep him.

PS You can't read the whole article because of the paywall, but what you can read explains enough.

Then they are signing Willian and pushing for Coutinho or what?

If he’s not good enough for Arsenal, he’s definitely not fucking good enough for us. No thank you.

Just because you are not good enough for a club doesnt mean your a bad player

Serge Gnabry (Ars)
De Bruyne (Che)
Salah (Che)
Henry (Juv)

The above are off top of my head, there will be plenty more examples, if we go younger players leaving 'big clubs'.

Michael Keane
Tom Heaton
Danny Drinkwater (was influential in Leicester winning league)

Again I haveonly used the one club above, there are plenty more examples.

Point being - I dont look at a player and think if he isnt good enough for x then he wont do a job for us, Im thinking can this player do a job for us.

On AMN himself, his career stats alludes to a young player who has been slowly integrated into the side since he was 17/18yrs old. Even got 30+ Championship games under his belt, with a loan at Ipswich.

If Arsenal genuinely are in a minor financial quandary, then there is the possibility that we get one over on them by bringing in a decent HG squad player.

Not sure why some are saying they wouldnt sell to us? Of course they would. Just like most teams out of the current top 4, they have to balance the books, and AMN not exactly being a superstar, I can’t see why it couldn’t happen. Back in the day when David Dein was in charge and understood the rivalry, it wouldn’t.

The goons are different now, the current board won’t care.

Your guess is as good as mine.

But they've not exactly been well run for the last 5 or 6 years, and multiple media outlets have reported their need to sell to buy.

And they seem to be going for an agent led approach to their recruitment policy.

So it might be as simple as they think they can bring in 2 or 3 players, for the price of one.

Whether they can actually do that, remains to be seen.

No thanks - we've got Gedson in for that utility 'much of a much-ness' slot ta.

I agree with you on that, but Gedson is here on loan for 12 months and with the few amounts of minutes he's/he'll getting, I don't think we can rely on him making an impact. tbh I don't see us buying him. I'd rather have Maitland who has premier experience and can fit the role of a RWB/CM

That's a good point. Some say Mourinho is wasting talents and just shipping them off, but imo there's the team synergy that didn't fit that certain player when at the club.

I’d 100% have him here, only thing I don’t like is us giving arsenal cash which will help them strengthen

15 more pages of negativity like the first 5 and this has the makings of a classic spurs transfer success.

What if we made him into another Gnabry though? A delicious thought. Not that I think it’s all that likely, but imagine it.
