This is a good read and statistical analysis and indication of where we are heading. I reckon 3rd, potentially 2nd at push if we are lucky with injuries this year.

If we keep Eriksen I think we'll finish 1st.

Honestly I think our strength in depth is insane, the only concern is RB, but at least Trippier isn't going to be starting.

This will be Kane's biggest season yet - he'll be lethal with all these suppy lines, plus the rest will be a huge factor.

Lose Eriksen, and I think we'll finish 3rd.

You’re frankly crazy if you think our squad is better than City’s.

De Bruyne, the best player in the league, only played a bit part last year and they got over 90 points.

City: Barring an absolute miracle we won't top City. It doesn't matter how good our squad is - Guardiola has created a monster. The amount of chances they create is absolutely mental and our defence isn't good enough to match them. Never gonna happen.

Pool: I do however think we have a chance of topping Liverpool. They haven't refreshed their squad, lack depth up front and got seriously lucky with injuries last season. Wouldn't be that surprised if we came above them but still rather unlikely.

Arse: While we really should come above them, I do think Arsenal will surprise people this season. Their defence isn't great but their front 2 + Ceballos and Pepe is no joke and they will absolutely steamroller a lot of teams. Luiz also isn't a complete joke - he's terrible occasionally but he's a brilliant passer and on his day a good defender - waaaaay better than Mustafi. I think they'll ultimately be too inconsistent to challenge us for 3rd, but they should be miles ahead of Chelsea and United.

Chelsea: No reliable source of goals. Think they'll be lucky to come 5th.

Utd: I genuinely think they might completely crumble and finish in 9th or 10th. So many problems with their squad, manager and mentality.

Gone for 3rd

Long as the defence is more settled this year .
Think NDombele is gonna be massive along Sissoko
Lol Sissoko, who would've dreamed we'd only been seeing his larval form for so long

Still a little concerned we didn't get a striker as we had problems there when Kane gets injured. Son is good but I would have liked to see a top forward come in to complement the excellent midfield reinforcements.

I don't think Parrott is here to play in the youth squad.

Although I think we’ll finish 3rd but I’ve gone for 2nd because firstly we have strengthened our squad plus some of our youth have seemed to have stepped up. Additionally , we’ve had a good summer where our players have had a proper rest this time.

Last season, Liverpool were very lucky with injuries but I don’t think they will be as lucky this time around. I’m banking on this as well as the new rules & VAR for the reasons that we will get closer to them this season, and hopefully pip them in the final run in.

My biggest concern with last season, was that we looked knackered for a whole year. I do not think it was World Cup plus a thin squad only.

My gut feeling is that Poch and the coaching team struggled with the balance of training and resting, without the pre-season.

The players will not be able to train as hard as they could when Poch first arrived. The do not need the same work once they are in their mid 20’s. It will change again once the players hit late 20’s into 30’s. Every season we improved under Poch until last year. Hardly anyone hit their career best form.

I trust a pre-season will be more familiar for Poch, and we will be sharper, and press more like previous seasons. If this happens I think we can win the league.

TN and GLC are game changers for us, giving us the potential world class mid we need to match city. If TA and CE stay, we are good enough.

Second

Man City will win it again but not by such a distance and we will run them close along with Liverpool.

If we have luck with injuries (doesn’t look like it so far - Dele, Davies, diet, Aurier, Foyth) and of the new signings are integrated quickly and hit the ground running then it will be a boost.

With a summer off and a full preseason for virtually the whole squad, I expect us to genuinely challenge once again.

Edit: I haven’t read the whole thread but I’m loving the positive noises from everyone. Shame Sonny is missing for the first two games and Dele is out though.

Why? Llorente was no good. We have Son and Lucas and Parrott is more suited to our style of play.

I'm confident of a top three finish, but I couldn't say where we'll finish. I think this could be a very strange and unpredictable season with VAR having a major influence.

Third as a minimum, but 2nd is a real possibility. Liverpool haven't signed anyone and will start the season with an unfit Sadio Kane, which may or may not impact them.

They've also got a European Super Cup and the Club World Cup to deal with, so you'd think that will catch up with them eventually.

A really interesting season on the cards. I personally think that Liverpool won't get anywhere near their performances/results of last season and if they pick up the wrong injuries at the wrong times it could be tough for them.

United will be the surprise package for me. I reckon they have all the right components to have a great season although Ole will have to prove that he is the boss and not let the dressing room get away. I think we will be battling them for second place... just my opinion.

And perhaps I'm biased but I don't think Arsenal have had a great window. They have got some great players in but in areas where they were already strong. Can Luiz fill the leadership void left by Ramsey? Time will tell I suppose.

City, United, Spurs, Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton, Wolves, Chelsea. :woot:

But fuck it - the football's back lads! COYS

Interesting to see many writing off Liverpool.

I think they are still very strong and will get 2nd.

We fell away badly after Burnley away. Fatigue played a big part, but up to then we were in touch.

So with much needed rest and making key signings we've strengthened.

Hardly crazy.
