I think we are the 3rd best in the league currently, but that all depends on what happens to Eriksen and Rose - If they are here come September then straight off the bat, I'm saying 3rd, however, if we somehow manage to get Dybala in January (hope more than anything), then I think we could possibly push for at least second.

3rd or 4th, we will drop points against top teams because they will exploit our RBs (same as last year), Eriksen won't be as good because he wants a transfer and we'll see if Kane can stay healthy for a whole season. A proper DM like Wanyama from few years back would also help.

I am interested to see how Eriksen plays this season.

He got good stats last year but didn't move onto a higher level. With his contract running short and supposedly being desperate for a move to an elite club he could perform at his peak to attract a move.

Or he could just go through the motions.

We’ve definitely got a better squad now, but I’m talking about how managers use players they’ve got. Poch doesn’t seem able to coach a side tactically the way Klopp and Pep do.
I think any manager is limited when your bench options are a cumbersome Dier and finished Wanyama in midfield and Llorente up front. We also lacked creativity in the absence of Eriksen. Lamela's fitness also out of Poch's control.

All that meant our best players got overplayed giving them fitness and form issues. You then have to rely on the said crap backups.

None of that addresses my point, though. I’m saying that I think other coaches would have got more out of the same situation.

Think city will win it.

Liverpool won't have the same luck they did last season with VAR now in play.

Utd relying on rashford and still have a sulking pogba could be bad for them.

All top teams except chelsea are stronger and its going to be a good season.

2nd. We have the depth to compete now and should we find ourselves in the position we were in last January i don't believe we will crumble and who knows Levy may whip out the checkbook again if we're close. Liverpool I feel don't have the depth and hopefully won't be so fortunate to essentially have a completely injury free first XI as they were so generously blessed with last season.

If eriksen signs new contract then i believe we are going to challenge and will win the damn thing. Screenshot this and we will see after the season ends.

I think we have many goalscorers in our team the only issue was creativity from CM positions and this is improved now. Fit injury free lamela will surprise everyone.

I think this is the season the top six becomes perhaps/potentially top nine which includes the usual six plus Everton, Leicester and Wolves

I think its going to be a tight and really competitive league this season.

I want us to win the league and think if we got an RB and Dybala then we would have competed so well right up there for the league. Its so tight to call but we do now need CE to stay

I think the signings of ndombele and Lo Celso are massive to the way we will play. The press of a couple years back will be implemented aggressively again, and hopefully, with a fit Dier, the defence will be far better protected by the whole midfield.

I think we will bully most teams, including top 6, and pip Liverpool to 2nd. City still too good though.

If we can come 4th with our squad and injuries last season think we should easily come 3rd this season, we'll close the gap on city/scouse but not by enough, (although 2nd thoughts with VAR Liverpool may have about 10 less dodgy points so maybe 2nd) fancy Arsenal for 4th, would be nice to see us turning up against them this season...

Went 5th last year and 4th this. I think the league as a whole will be slightly more competitive and so teams like Wolves, Everton and even perhaps West Ham will nick points off the top 4 teams and be pushing to get into the top 6.

After a few good results and some heightened energy midway through the season, the club and fans start talking about a title challenge. But failure to focus and a paper thin depth in defence lands us firmly far away in points from the title, yet we clinch 3rd, ie. best of the rest.

Few ifs, if Eriksen stays, knuckles down and gets back to it, if we do better with injuries and if we aren’t running on empty by March...third at the very least imo.
If we enjoy the sort of luck Liverpool did last season, with injuries and opposition throwing goals in their own nets etc, we can win it

So many variables still really. Let’s see what Levy does before the European window shuts. If we lose Toby or Eriksen, then we are in a little bit of trouble.

If this squad at present is kept together, with maybe only a couple of the filers players like GKN or Wanyama leaving, then it should be enough for third.

With Liverpool failing to strength, and Sane being out for the season, I think this is ours to lose.

If we keep the obvious 3 we have a chance of 2nd. I sense a Liverpool drop off especially with VAR lol.

Last season : Finished with 71 points; Gap to Liverpool 26 points
Prediction for next season : 2nd

Reasons :
Last season:
i) Zero preseason for first XI
ii) International cups - Son was affected twice & we had 8 players in WC Semis
iii) Both above resulted in abnormal number of muscle injuries. Almost wiped out our CM interms of injuries
iv) No signings to freshen up the squad
v) No proper home. In 2016/17 , last season at WHL ,we won 53 home points. Last season just 38 points.
vi) Liverpool got lucky on injury front - except for couple of squad members, zero injuries in XI. 6 of their XI Played 33 or more games.
vii) Liverpool got fair few lucky few points

This season - reasons to be hopeful:
i) Full preseason for almost entire squad.
ii) Nations cup finished early. No participation from other key members like Son, Moura
iii) Front 3 fully fit - Kane, Son, Moura
iv) New signings Ndombele & Lo Celso - improves midfield unimaginably. CM options are incredible
v) Back to WHL. With us moving to new stadium for first full season, I expect us to improve the home performance atleast by 10 to 12 points minimum.
vi) Liverpool had key players in AFCON & Copa. Liverpool have to play Club world cup in busy December. Their luck will run out of injuries - law of averages
vii) VAR evens up the field. No lucky points anymore.

Reasons to be wary:
i) RB situation a big worry
ii) Situation of Rose, Eriksen & Toby

IMO, overall, if things go our way, we will run close to City & LIverpool and eventually pip them to 2nd
