Thing is that Spurs do have a reputation not just for creating attacking football but always developing the "right attitude" and work ethics in their star players. All of Spurs (super) stars - Campbell (sorry to be bring up his name), Carrick, Berbatov, Modric, Bale - who were sold did from well to excellently well. Clubs know there's no fuss with the players who "last" at Spurs and that they adapt easily to in other clubs. Which makes them extra attractive.
Ok, it can be argued how well Berba did at ManU and Bale at Real M. but both I reckon both paid back their fees and neither created much fuss despite of being subbed so many times.
With Eriksen the big clubs knows he's got work ethics and non-problem personality with a world class talent. He's be the closest to what Real M. could expect as Modric' replacement.
I do hope he stays....as long as he signs the contract extension.
Real M. will be selling players lik Isco, Bale, so they'll manage to balance the books in order to get all the targets Zidane wants. If Real M. want Eriksen badly, they will get him.
