Thing is that Spurs do have a reputation not just for creating attacking football but always developing the "right attitude" and work ethics in their star players. All of Spurs (super) stars - Campbell (sorry to be bring up his name), Carrick, Berbatov, Modric, Bale - who were sold did from well to excellently well. Clubs know there's no fuss with the players who "last" at Spurs and that they adapt easily to in other clubs. Which makes them extra attractive.
Ok, it can be argued how well Berba did at ManU and Bale at Real M. but both I reckon both paid back their fees and neither created much fuss despite of being subbed so many times.
With Eriksen the big clubs knows he's got work ethics and non-problem personality with a world class talent. He's be the closest to what Real M. could expect as Modric' replacement.
I do hope he stays....as long as he signs the contract extension.
Real M. will be selling players lik Isco, Bale, so they'll manage to balance the books in order to get all the targets Zidane wants. If Real M. want Eriksen badly, they will get him.

Limited funds for Real Madrid
is not quite the same
as limited funds for most others.

But what you say about 'eye catching' is certainly true
and with Pogba on the rumour sheet with Hazard
they may not want to pay 50 million plus for Eriksen.

As with some of our supporters
he would take time to woo the RM fans.
Time they don't always give.

Zidane knows his football though.

Exactly. If Real M. really wants Eriksen - he wants Real M. - they will find the funds to get him.

Positive comments from Poch regarding Eriksens future. Hope Levy gives the lad what he wants. He so damn important for us.

It's actually interesting from a cultural perspective. In Danish culture, it's generally considered bad form to boast or big oneself up. I would imagine being interviewed could be seen as doing that and so his demeanour is quieter. Contrast that with some of the Spurs TV training ground mess about videos and he's much more animated.

Someone forgot to give Niklas Bendtner the memo

He's being plastered all over the social media platforms today.

Possibly building up to a contract announcement?

I might be reading him wrong, but I get the feeling something positive going on.

Just watching him play Tuesday. - always wanted the ball.

If you pushed me, I would say he is staying.

Could be read either way tbf.

The way I read it is that Igi is happy that Poch is talking about it like that (still 'hopeful') as he previously assumed it was a lost cause.

Edit - No-one really mentioned the Poch interview beforehand so it's not like he's doubting what Poch said, more like a reaction to seeing it first hand (which makes it positive IMO).

With Pogba and Hazard clearly in their sights, especially after spending massively on another youngster, I'd be surprised if Madrid got Eriksen as well. It would need them to shift a hell of a lot of players to make way.

Wouldn't surprise me if he stayed now

Rose on Eriksen-contract situation to Sky:

"It's obviously vital [that Eriksen stays]. If you look over the five years that the manager's been here, Christian has played the most games and that says a lot.

"When Christian doesn't play, there are questions that we don't look the same. He links everything up for us.

"The lads in the changing room trust the people upstairs to hopefully get him to sign.

"We have every possible foundation at the club - the training ground, the stadium now, the fan-base, the players. But it's not just the foundations that attract players and make players want to stay.

"It's out of the players' control. We just have to trust that the people upstairs are going to do whatever they see fit to help us make that next step.

Marca have claimed that Zidane is looking to replace Modric (who's turning 34 this year) - that means just 1 player need to be shifted (and they may even keep Modric for another season while Eriksen settles in) And Eriksen fit that bill of a self-less player maker - like Modric - who doesn't mind letting the super stars soak in the limelight...
If Real M. want Eriksen they will get him.
But I do hope he'll stay, naturally.

I think a few fans are slowly admitting that Lamela isn't fit regularly enough for us and is therefore a player we could sell. Especially as a non-HG player.

Your logic is sound IMO. A player like Brooks (from what little i've seen) or Grealish could represent a decent change up for Lamela and offer CE cover. Not to mention free up a HG place in the squad.

Yep, I like Lamela but isn't fit regularly enough and we just can't afford to be carrying him anymore (and Wanyama unless he continues his current comeback without breaking down again).

I just read that at the new Lane, he’s scored 3 and assisted 5. Directly involved in every single goal in our new stadium.

Class.
What about Sissoko's and Son's assists for Lucas, and Llorente's for Wanyama vs Huddersfield?

That still leaves Kovacic (not sure if Chelsea have an obligation, or if they're even able to). Kroos, Modric, Ceballos, Isco, asensio, Casemiro, Lucas. Plus they still have to find a buyer to Bale (no doubt will have to subsidise his wages somehow), Benzema isn't getting any younger too.

Yeah. My humble guess is that RM feels that they have more urgent business to do at other positions. With Bale and Benzema out of favor they are basically looking at building an entirely new forward line.

Moral of the story? Don’t believe everything you read online, even if it’s on a rather popular Spurs supporters’ site on Facebook. :sneaky:

Benzema's been playing regularly all season, also during Zidane, and he scored a hat-trick in their last game (vs Bilbao) so I doubt he's out of favour.
Yes, he's 31 so for sure they'll be looking for a new top-notch CF but that doesn't mean they'll view replacing Benzema as one of the top-priorities...
