I made the point in yesterday's match thread that last season we were comparing Alli's stats with wheelchair jack and how quickly that became an irrelevant comparison.

Man Utd fans now comparing him to pogba,

Oh my God, the state of some of those posts about Alli on Redcafe.

Levy is a prick for not selling our players to them? Yeah, ok mate.

  • We should try to buy him.
  • He'll be off to Madrid or Barca soon
  • Poch will be off to a bigger club
  • Pogba v Alli debate

Who got a full house on their Red Cafe bingo card?!?

You missed "it's more difficult to play for Utd than Spurs, because there is an expectation that Utd will win titles"

It's so difficult to play for a club like Utd that If you're an average player you might secure a contract of £100k a week, tough indeed.

Unlike many on here I think Pogba is a very good player, but like others have said Pogba's biggest attribute is his agent. He isn't worth half the fee Utd paid or the £300k a week, the agent has justified whatever his sickening fee was

It's also a clear indicator of the level of panic inside the United setup. If you're an agent and you can hype up your player for a bit, there's a good chance there'll be someone from Man U at your door ready to throw obscene amounts of money at you...

It's a bit unfair to compare Pogba and Alli, both are different in terms of the areas on the pitch both operate. Alli is a goal scoring machine and has a greater flexibility in areas whereby Pogba is more a playmaker deeper line player at United. I think United are playing him wrong.

They're playing him in exactly the position he excelled I'm for Juve, it's just that Utd are pants being led by a manager who doesn't prioritise in getting the best out of young players. If Pogba played at Spurs you'd see a completely different animal alltogether.

Paul Pogba reminds me of Yaya Toure - extraordinary technical and physical ability. Like Yaya though, he needs a proper kicking up his backside to get him going. Needs a Roy Keane alongside him.

Perhaps it indicates that United aren't really signing the players they NEED, and instead are just signing names. They've been desperate for a goal scoring midfielder since Scholes retired (the first time) and have failed time and again to sign anyone to fill the role.

The likes of United should have been into Dele when he was at MK dons, but they seem to want to go down the galactico route.

To be fair Pogba is a younger player still to reach his prime, he's only four years older than Deli and barely a year older than Harry Kane.

I think that is harsh on Toure. Was an absolute beast for a few years at his peak for City. He can't play that game anymore but Pogba would have massively stepped up on this seasons showing if he consistently puts in performances like Toure was doing a few years ago

Either way I think it's fair to say Alli is significantly outperforming Pogba in their respective positions, however you want to judge it.

Alli, even if you want to claim he is a 2nd striker, which he isn't, is putting up top numbers even for a striker. Taking that into account he is well overperforming.

It's hard to compare but Pogba isn't even performing as well as Son in his position. So Alli is doing incredible. Quality player. Still have 'doubts' over his general play but even that has improved in the last year. His dribbling and skill in yesterday's game when he best 2/3 players shows he's still taking it up a notch. I remember when we signed him and he scored 16 league goals in L1 I thought that alone is impressive for a young player and of he can do even half of that in the PL he'd be a good signing as a goal scoring midfielder and he's likely to get more this year.

I agree with this, both players are definitely comparable but Alli is better.
