I was sat in the east upper yesterday, and I tried to start some singing the whole game. But there was a bird infront of me who turned round and asked me to stop shouting in her ears, and the bloke next to me kept sticking his fingers in his ear. So I just gave up in the end. It was awful.

And on a side note I had 3 Dutch lads sat next to me, 2 were Ajax and one was Feyenoord and they made more noise than any of the spurs fans near me!! It was truly embarrassing support.

Seriously? What on earth do they expect going to a football match? I'd have told them two ****s if they wanted peace and quiet to fuckoff and buy tickets to watch the snooker

Am a season ticket holder and the problem seems to be a growing number of 'well I pay £900 a year to sit here so I have a right to be miserable'. That money wouldn't cover a weeks wages for bentaleb! People need to get over themselves and support the team.

The guy next to me in park lane upper has to be the most miserable sod in the world. Literally to the point of sociopathy, he moans and moans, only says anything positive about the opposition players, never sings ever. I have to wonder if he has anything in his life that makes him happy coz going to spurs ain't it!

Newcastle crowd giving the officials dogs abuse, could possibly influence them 2nd half!

We never get on the backs of the officials only on the backs of our own players and staff, it's easy to give decisions against us.

Newcastle's crowd really helping them here against City!

We play City at home soon and no doubt our crowd will really help City!

That is disgraceful. Did you give them directions to the Emirates at least?

Anyone who goes regularly and doesn't sing or clap or bang their hearts out for the team is a prick.

I've dreamt of a day out at the lane for the last decade and to hear this puss is disheartening for us foreign supporters.

Soft cocks

I agree with this really, though I can understand why some people don't sing. For a start, the vast majority of our chants are pathetic (the Soldado/Vertonghen chants being the worst), secondly, there's not much about our football these days to inspire the fans, and lastly as many have mentioned, a growing sense of expectation that has replaced the underdog spirit we had for years.

Being based out of London I rarely get a chance to go to games, but usually try to get to at least 3 or 4 per season. For me it's still a special experience every single time. I've witnessed the best of our fans (the 5-0 v Newcastle), and the worst (Fulham loss last season). For the latter I was sat in the Park Lane lower. I deliberately got a ticket there for the atmosphere, but on that day it was just grim.

I guess a lot of people who go regularly just become complacent, and don't think of seeing Spurs as a privilege that many people across the world (such as yourself) would love to experience.

We should just stop selling Season Tickets.
I hadn't thought of that but I reckon you're bang on, there's times I go out of habit/routine because I've bought the ST and so I'm committed, the atmosphere possibly would benefit from someone who's gagging to be there and so sings & roars rather than me who turns up, enjoys the game but isn't particularly loud. I love the matchday experience, I struggle to watch footy on the TV, but I can accept that younger, fresher blood may add to the atmosphere.

Maybe there should be a small amount of tickets for every match that are pay at turnstile, how old school does that sound now where once it was the norm?

On another related topic we really are taken as mugs. There can't be many industries where someone has to pay handsomely to be an extra and provide atmosphere for those watching at home on TV and then get berated by the manager for not being loud enough.

Perhaps a few matches played behind closed doors and the subsequent loss of atmosphere and TV revenue may encourage the club to value it's loyal supporters more.

One more thing, I know I'll get laughed at for this but I sincerely believe we should get paid (or at least free tickets) for going to showpiece matches, without our input as extras the club would not be able to sell the match to TV audiences all over the world. I know it sounds daft but when you see those "An Audience With" programmes on TV no-one has paid to go to that, the slebs in the front few rows will have been paid to go and the selling point of those programmes is the interaction, why should we be treated any different? But we are and we accept it.

Hope is gone, and its replaced with expectation. Were stuck in a catch 22 it seems too. Fans will only sing when we play well/score and the players will only perform when fans sing. I hate whats happening at the lane.

Sorry rated funny because I was laughing at your great avatar!

Btw does anyone else get applause for just turning up at work?
Other fans are laughing at us because we are so blinded by the supposed ambition and false hope, the next disaster is just round the corner..

Was sitting in block 44 yesterday, near the away support that was vocal (although not particularly different from what you'd expect). Felt the rest of the Lane was very flat, almost fatigued. Even the goading from the away fans was pretty much ignored which was strange. Just seems like there is a general malaise around the place at the moment. Not as negative as it had been recently though I felt, even though the performance was pretty uninspiring. Maybe that's an improvement.

Everyone's a manager but nowadays they have a medium to write their thoughts daily. And they always know better. This has transferred on to the ground. If we're not playing at 100% and not 2 goals clear by half time, we're shit.

The internet killed football atmosphere.
