Would you cut your losses and sell Darren Bent for 8-10 million and use the money to buy David Villa for 15 to 20 odd million?!

I would! Berb and Villa would be awsome.

From Sporting Life

David Villa has revealed for the first time that he may be on his way out of Valencia at the end of the current campaign.
The Spanish striker has lost faith in Los Che's ability to challenge the top clubs in La Liga and he believes a move away would be beneficial for his career.

Liverpool and Chelsea have been linked with Villa, while Tottenham are believed to be the latest club to have shown a strong interest and the player admits he would be willing to discuss a transfer.

Villa told Goal: "I have always listened when there have been offers and I am still determined to do what is best for my career, but of course with the consent of the club as I have a contract.

"I have to think about my future and that is what I am going to do. I will listen to anything, like I always have."
Valencia's struggle on the trophy front this season has affected Villa's form, with the former Real Zaragoza hitman managing to find the net on just eight occasions.

Yes. Easy question really, Villa is one of the best strikers in the world (off the top of my head I can only think of Van Nistelrooy and Eto'o as better) - and, somehow, he seems to be keen on the idea of joining, which seems ridiculous. For an average Premiership side (let's not kid ourselves) to have two unarguably world class strikers would be mad.

Berbatov, Villa & Bent is a better balanced trio of strikers than Berbatov, Villa & Keane.

You could use any pair out of Berbs, Villa & bent whereby in the 2nd trio I'm not convinced that Villa & Keane could play together in much the same way that Defoe & Keane didn't work.

In a heartbeat. I'm not convinced Villa and Keane would work all that well together though.

Nosebleed - there are a few more out there to be fair, Ibrahimovic, Drogba, Adebayor(if he can continue this seasons form), Torres etc

You can bet your life that someone will disagree! But I think we could actually get him if we really went for him with a great offer. It might also show Berba and other players that the club means business in terms of going places.

Maybe a better one would instead be..

Would you sell Keane for 8 to 10 million and then use the cash to go and get Villa?

I take the point that Villa and Keane might pose a similar problem to that of Keane and Defoe - ie two small players upfront.

If we're going to make a big offer like that I'd rather we did it on a midfielder. Unless we can afford to do both or Berby's leaving.

Yes and No.

Yes I would sell Bent and cut our losses.

No, I wouldn't make an twat of myself thinking that I had the clout to sign David Villa. There is absolutely no fucking chance of Villa signing for us and its just fucking idiots who think that now that we have a Spanish coach we can sign any Spanish players we want. These are the same dickheads who thought that we could sign any Dutch players we wanted when Martin Jol was in charge.

If we are going to sign anyone I want it to be Rivaldo. He's a Spurs fan and I hear he wrote a letter to the club asking them to sign him.

That would make more footballing sense, but can you see it happening? And from the club's point of view, offloading Bent after spending so much on him and then giving him so little playing time in which to prove himself would be a massive PR disaster; the tabloids would have a huge laugh at our expense—after the shenanigans over Jol, does anyone see Levy wearing this?

And, most importantly, how well would his skills translate to the EPL? I read an interview with Gerrard in which he said that Torres is actually better suited to English football than La Liga; since Goldilocks has already scored as many goals as in his best-ever season for Atleti, that would seem to be the case. Would Villa be another Torres, or another Morientes?

I just think there are higher priorities than getting another striker; it's not an area in which we have particular problems, after all.

Not quite as far from the truth as some would believe actually. Ricky Villa (his Dad) apparently watched us at Wembley in the Cup Final.

His uncle Aston was there too, I believe. Things are looking good.

If Chelsea want him, he'll probably go there...

I wouldn't be adverse to selling Bent and bringing a replacement in, but provided we sort out the areas we actually need to strengthen first...

But I think Bent should stay, the least he deserves is a fair crack of the whip, both in the team and from the fans...

I would sell Bent tomorrow. Yesterday in fact. Never should have wasted that much money on such a limited player. I just don't like the way football needs to played to see the best of Bent and I think he has such a one dimensional game that it is pointles keeping him if we aren't going to play the way he needs.

Do you even need to ask that question?
