Watching both games again. The number of Costa Ricans who were on their knees or pointing to the sky praying before kick off was incredible. The Swiss didn't seem to understand it at all.

In the words of Sanka Coffie "you don't see the Swiss team smiling neither. In fact, if one of those Swiss boys ever come across a pretty girl, he probably yell, "eins, zwei, drei" and try to push her down some ice."

Lino had a mare not flagging that offside until the chance has already been wasted.

That was the offside that he flagged he just delayed it.

Now, it probably wasn't close enough to delay it but he didn't miss it.

@cwy21 mentioned about assistants delaying offside flags for close calls. All well and good.

What just happened was a joke though. He was a good FIVE yards offside.

First it was the French model to be held up as the best and the one for England to follow, then it was the Spanish model to follow and most recently it was the German one. Let’s hope it’s soon our time and other counties are following us. The youth team wins would suggest it might be, now it’s the time for the senior team to do it.

Yeah. I'm very confident that FIFA does not want the flag delayed in that situation. It was very clearly offside.

On the other hand, ARs have never had to consider delaying their flag before this tournament so there's a bit of a learning curve.

In what reality is it a good idea to start with Willian and Paulinho over Firmino and Fernandinho? Not this one! The latter players are near world-class level. The former are average.

The policy sounds like better safe than sorry, which isn't unreasonable.

Just been catching up on the highlights of the South Korea/Germany game, I was driving while it was on.

That lad South Korea had in goal... tikaboo, son. Someone on the radio said he's only a teenager? Well impressed.

Marcelo off, along with the German debacle, has messed up my fantasy side so much that I'm cheering on Serbia even harder now.

Costa Rica absolutely dominating v Switzerland. Hit the bar and two or three other huge chances.

Switzerland through isn't a foregone conclusion.
