Low’s made a real pigs ear of things. Just never managed to get the blend and balance right. I thought he’d gone 433 today, but for some inexplicable reason he left a bunch of good AM’s on the bench and played Goretzka as one instead of using him as a 8/Cm, which is the area they needed to strengthen. His subs were just desperate fumblings that made things more chaotic.

I started off wanting Germany to go through and ended up cheering South Korea’s goals like a loon, because as much as their bumbling was water torture, watching a team with Germany’s individual talent get it so wrong was even more painful.

It’s just a shame that it didn’t earn South Korea another game, though I’m not sure I could watch another 90 minutes of their fucking bumbling either.

Most entertaining World Cup in my lifetime.
1990 and 1994 for me as we (Ireland) were in and somewhat competitive but overall yes this one will take some beating. Far exceeded my expectations.

Especially funny if Brazil get knocked out the WC this evening too!
Would love it.
Germany have had a fall from grace coming, but Brazil deserve to be knocked out for being a bunch of whining prats

Croatia are class and Uruguay are strong. Could be the year an underdog triumphs.

I hope so. England, of course, being the most preferrential.

I was so gutted when Sweden beat Italy in the playoffs, but have accepted that we (Italy) didn't deserve to go through. At first, I was angry at Sweden but now i wish them apl the best as they've worked hard to get to the knockouts.

Didn't realise they'd knocked both Holland and Italy out before today. (Don't pay much attention to international football outside tournaments). Fair play to them for that run.

The way the Germans were knocked out was thoroughly satisfying. I can't have been the only one expecting them to scramble a last minute winner despite their lack of ideas and intensity. For them to get absolutely shafted at the end was incredibly satisfying.

Same here. I managed to get back home in time for the last few minutes when it was still 0-0 and I thought to myself that they'd get a last-gasp winner and go through. I had to pick my jaw up off the floor when S. Korea scored.
