Lots of talk about various players here but I’d be massively surprised if we didn’t use January to add some more known quantities like Lloyd Kelly to give us CB/LB cover, Kalvin Phillips as a replacement for Hjobjerg, and Jota to strengthen the frontline.
I think Newcastle will get Phillips now that Tonalli is banned.

But agree that Kelly and Jota (on loan) seem very likely as both those players are easily available.

3 sensible signings that would greatly improve our squad depth, which we'll certainly need if we can get back into the CL. They could also get significant game time if we get a good run together in the FA Cup.

We should be playing our first eleven in the FA Cup.

That would be a great and intelligent window.

We should be paying attention to André Trindade. His name was linked to Liverpool last summer and, in my opinion, he is the best midfielder of the new Brazilian generation.

Considering that João Gomes and Douglas Luiz are already protagonists of their respective clubs. I still believe that André is the most ready for the Premier League style of play, he can play in the 6 position with the potential to even be better than Bissouma.

Fluminense, despite being a good source of talent, does not have very good financial health. 20m-25m should be more than enough.

True but extra games will always give extra opportunities to play.

Ange makes a lot of subs and often does so quite early. So players on the bench shouldn’t feel like they’re not 1st team players anyway.

Kelly, Phillips and Jota would be a good window.

Seeing Doku’s dismantling of Bournemouth and his directness/trickery is absolutely something we lack currently and can look to pursue in future transfer windows.

I guess that's what we expected from Gill and Solomon, but yet to fully see from either.

Very interesting, but isn't he basically nailed on for Liverpool?

Yeah supposedly they have a verbal agreement for Jan. Be a good signing for them. We should be keeping and eye on Gabriel Moscardo and Federico Redondo for the DM position. They are obviously younger and less developed than Trindade but they both have a lot of potential imo.

Kristijan Plazonja (a.k.a. @SerbFootyScout on Twitter) is a journalist and analyst who writes for Serbian sports site Mozzartsport, while also serving as an advisor and scouting Serb players – in Serbia and abroad – for clubs in the Dutch Eredivisie, Russian Premier League, Italian Serie A and elsewhere.

In defence, Plazonja described 6ft 4in Rubezic as not only physically imposing, but fleet of foot for his size and with a tendency to win most of his challenges on the ground and in the air, saying: “He’s tall, but has a slender build and decent pace for a big man.

“He’s an aggressive, brave hard-tackling stopper, regularly steps out to close down players – but can get caught out that way.”

Since news of Aberdeen’s interest in centre-back Rubezic broke, some fans who have dug up information on the player’s attributes have pointed to his passing numbers as a potential cause for concern.

While Plazonja admitted those stats perhaps reflect a weakness in Rubezic’s game, he added: “Rubezic is far from useless on the ball, can work his way out of tight situations and hit the occasional quality long ball.”

Plazonja also said the big defender would be a “weapon at set-pieces” for Aberdeen, with a “good leap, added to his already impressive height.”

Maybe not one for January, but Eze in the summer would be a game changing signing for us.

Perfect for the left-wing role as well as backup for Maddison, who they can rotate in and out or play together for creative energy against low block teams.

Similar to Maddison, he is coming to an age where his next big move is on the cards. 12 months left on his deal in the summer, definitely will force Palace’s hand, the fact he is also a CAA Base client will favour us massively.

Depending how Palace get on between now and Christmas, if they find themselves free of a relegation battle, I think it’s definitely a deal worth exploring, works for both parties if we could get Eze in Jan with Palace getting maximum value, without the danger of them consolidating relegation by making that deal.

We worked hard to sign Eze when he was at QPR, and if I recall ITK saying we showed him and his family around the training ground etc, so he will already be familiar with some of the people at the club. For him to reject us at the time for Palace hurt, but when he stated it was for the betterment and development of his career at that stage, you can’t help but respect that judgement from a player at a young age. Also shows he has good people around him who want to see him thrive instead of chasing the £££,

If we find ourselves still in a title race in Jan it would be a momentum building, statement signing that would get arses off seats. Even if there was a Berbatov-style aspect to it where Eze comes in and Gil joins on loan until the end of the season - ultimately giving Bryan some PL experience, staying in London and helping Palace fill in the position until the summer when they can reinvest the money into someone promising (my money is on Forrest Whitaker at Plymouth).

That really would be a big name signing for Palace, however now the writers strike is over I fear he may have more work on his plate.

him going to palace over us at the time was the smartest decision he could of made and honestly i think more players need to be willing to do this. If they are fine going to a "stepping stone" club for a couple of years to develop, get great play time, learn from a great manager before a big move it would massively help them long term.

For every Dele Alli, there are a million wilfried zaha (his move to Manchester United that went up in flames)

Doku is on different level, as he is even younger than Gil and Soloman. He already impressed few years ago when he played for Belgium senior team. Gil is still very much a question mark after 2 years of joining us.

How about Vermeeren? Is he similar to those guys?

I know this isn't the thread for it, but I'm really sad we didn't bring Mohammed Kudus in. I had a feeling he was going to be special and it seems like he's coming good on the talent for West Ham. I know there were rumours we were in for him and that he was demanding a Champions League release clause. Can understand why Levy might have baulked at that, but his talent is outrageous.

Most certainly, he’s been playing CM rather than DM but he’s excellent defensively so could and has played deeper. He’s a bit like Sarr in the sense he can comfortably play multiple positions due to his versatile skill set. Should 100% also been on our list. Really is quite remarkable how influential he is for Antwerp at only 18. Could be hard to get him tho as Barca, City, Liverpool and Arsenal are all supposedly very interested.
