This is one of those cases where if he played at Lyon he’d probably be worth 2x as much

Is he a left sided centre-back? That's what we need to be targeting IMO.

Unless of course he's got the potential to be better than both Foyth and Sanchez.

Personally think this makes a lot of sense, assuming the interest is real and we do think he's the real deal.

Toby stays a year then we draft this kid in. We then have 3 top young CB prospects.

Val Yid did hint we are targeting a few young players today also.

Although I do like the idea of the goons using part of their limited budget to NOT improve their defence for another season!

It's also one of those where our fans moan we don't scout players until they're in the 70 mill bracket but don't see this as the type of signing we should make.

Davinson is better on the left tbh, and that’s where I want to see him once Vertonghen is gone.

Haven't looked into it closely but if so it's weird that Poch often played toby there instead, even though he was clearly uncomfortable there on and off the ball.

If Sanchez can end up playing LCB that'll be great for our squad balance. Especially if we add this kid too.

Le10Sport also claim Arsenal are the only active party. I generally believe Bouhsafi but I am wondering if he's being fed bait on this one. Of course it's possible he is the right one in this scenario and others are wrong but I don't tend to believe the outlier.

Blowing more than half their budget on a player who they can’t use for another year when they’re so desperate to rebuild now is gloriously comical

I'd be hugely surprised if we are in for him as it seems very reactive to go in late on someone and with moves for Ndombele, Sessegnon, Clarke and more importantly no move as of yet for Alderweireld I can't see how a big fee paid makes sense for us unless we know for certain we will be one CB down.

With a right back potentially required as well I just don't see us spending the kind of money all of these mentioned would cost. Throw the Lo Celso rumour into the mix as well and that's an insane amount of money. A CB would be nice but I can't see it being a goer at the moment.

We were linked with CB at the beginning of the window. I would guess not to write this one off too soon.

Even if we don't really want him, us getting involved in any way might force Arsenal to up their bid and spend even more of their low budget just to get him :sneaky:

I wonder if he's a player we have been scouting and are interested in but we weren't going to move now as Toby doesn't appear to be leaving yet.
However Arsenal have gone in quite seriously and we were asked to be kept informed, now, not wanting to miss out we are either trying to force Arsenal to back off by creating a bidding war knowing that they can't go more than a certain amount and we will go back in at a later date. Or have been pushed ourselves to act as he's said he will go to them. Or our name is just being used.

Although JJ normally poo poohs these links.

6 foot 4 Seems imposing. Cannot believe he is 18. For the price quoted its not bad. Seems to have the right build for our league.
