Mate, so what if the lads have (reportedly) the odd drink here and there and make behavioural mistakes. I have never heard one story of Gallas being a pisshead, totally irrelavant IMO.

We have all seen Gallas consistently be a ****. Act in a ****ish way. For years he has been nothing but a **** of a person, total total **** of a person. Has King? Has Pav?

Pretty sure Keane chucked everything apart from himself out of the pram to get a move to his boyhood club only to return back to us as if nothing had happened. According to reports both Pav and GDS have been disrespectful to the club in thier attitudes to training. I dont see how drink driving can be put down to a "behavioural mistake", its a criminal offence.

I'm not saying I would love him to sign but he would be a good addition to the squad with exsperience that noone else we have has.

StartingPrice,

I wouldn't bet against you on that!!!

But what has he done thats soooo bad? He hasn' hit, shot, killed or raped anyone so what makes him such an ****? Ok so he comes across as a sulker sometimes but ive seen many other players seem that way too. Look at Ronaldo how many times has he sat down on the floor and stayed there for a while sulking that he wasnt given a free kick.

Gallas has been a top top performer at both Chelsea, Arsenal and France. If he was that bad Wenger would have sold him long ago but yet he wanted him to stay this year, but Gallas has decided it's time to move on. Im not saying we should go all out and sign him, but if we did i'd be happy with it, knowing that he would do a very good job for us. People who say Bassong is better are clueless!

He forced his way out of Chelsea. He played/talked his way out of the captainship at Arsenal, and then out of the club as a whole. He ruined France's chances at the World Cup. Why would we want any part of this guy?

The Chelsea thing really means we shouldn't consider signing him.
I couldn't care who he used to play for but the fact that he did play for Arsenal means that if people did turn on him he'd be more likely to have a tantrum and I really don't fancy his influence on the squad particularly if he pulls a Chelsea type stunt.

I think Gallas is exactly what we need. We have Dawson, Bassong & Kaboul as fit regular CB's. Woodgate is fucked and King is semi-fucked. What we desperately need is a leader back there with plenty of top level (Int, CL, EPL) experience who can play more regularly than Woodgate and King.

Everyone bitching is judging a career on one incident and one bit of hearsay from an argument and ignoring the fact that the bloke has played at the highest level for years.

I said a couple of weeks ago that I like Richards and wouldn't mind us buying him but felt that with people like Dawson, Kaboul & Bassong what we really need to be looking for is an experienced top drawer pro.

Gallas is perfect and on a free.

I wouldnt want anyone from that bloody England squad either....... opppps.
I was refering to the attitude of the French squad and how they basically went on strike during the World Cup. It was an absolute disgrace. England and Italy were shit in terms of performance, but neither disgraced themselves with the attitude of the French squad.

Wenger was obviously desperate to keep him and his leadership skills. Being captain for Arsenal worked out well.

I'm pretty sure Wenger has a very strict policy about contracts for over 30-32 year olds doesn't he ? He never offers more than a year, which I believe Gallas was offered, no ?

Do you not think that with the Woodgate/King situation what we really need is someone with experience at the highest level ? If so, there aren't too many better candidates out there at the moment are there ? Can you think of any.

Also, none of those dismissing Gallas because of his "personality" seemed to mind us signing up Woodgate - A bloke convicted of an alcohol fuelled cowardly racist attack on some asian kids.

I've said it's not anymore important than last year. Who knows with Woodgate and King is hardly semi-fucked. People have been writing him for three years. It's dull.

Last year we were without Dawson and survived early on; I can't see the need to bring in an experienced player now. If two of Woodgate, King, Dawson and Bassong are fit they will play, so I can't see the need for Gallas. If we are going to sign someone because we need to then Hangelaand at Fulham would so nicely, Cahill from Bolton.

Ordinarily I don't see the need for signings to be nice blokes, but in this area I think it important that they are good leaders and team players. Gallas from recent activities is not. I have no idea why he was released but his captaincy did not end well at Arsenal and quite simply, having seen him a fair bit for them and in the World Cup I don't think he is that good.

No idea what the Woodgate incident- where he was convicted of affray ten years ago, has anything to do with anything.

But fair play, Mill...Raymond Dommenech is one of the biggest twats to have (dis)graced World football (if not the superlative)

You say "we were without Dawson and survived" like you are surprised ?

I like Hangelaand and think he would be a good replacement for Dawson (ie brave, tough & good in the air but also more intelligent) but Cahill is over rated and over priced.

If you don't rate Gallas as a player then fair enough. But I do and think that if - as appears the case - we are reluctant to spend big money on a CB then someone like Gallas on a free 2yr contract would be ideal to babysit the likes of Bassong, Kaboul and Dawson when King is out.

IMO Gallas is better than Woodgate period, even allowing for the fact that Woodgate is permanently injured anyway.

Yes we were without him and had to play your fave Huddlestone and Corluka at the back; as well as just conceding a lot more goals per game than without I think.

No I don't now rate him as a player and don't see the need for him. Kaboul, Bassong and Dawson are all young but not that young, they can fend for themselves and with King and maybe Woodgate we don't need another older centre back.

I'm coming round to the idea of Gallas but I have to question if he would accept playing second fiddle to King when he is fit?

Gallas to me gives the impression of being a bit of a Billy big bollocks and if he was asked to sit on the bench at times when Ledley was fit then would give out.

That is unless the idea is to play the two of them together???

I have responded to last nights post in ITK discussion in the Young thread in here by the way.
