This website: http://www.whoscored.com/Teams/30 was posted on the "Team v Fulham" website. Thought I'd have a look to see what it said about us.

It reckons our weaknesses are:

* defending a lead
* defending against skillful players
* defending wingplay situations

Is this website accurate do you think? The latter in particular. Do we concede a drastic number of goals from wingplay situations?

The strenghs appear to be accurate, though I wasn't sure about the "winning aerial duels" one. Overall we're not that great in the air, are we?

Just seems like a generic list of strengths and weaknesses you could apply loosely to pretty much all teams. Nothing that strikes me as being insightful or illustrates a great analysis of our weaknesses and strengths.

I would agree with that, but we are better at defending leads this season but this maybe down to king playing

I'd go along with that analysis.

This season we may be better at defending leads but not by controlling the game, we invite the pressure. That has to change.

Would rate our strongest squad as (assuming reasonable formation and positions):

Friedel
Walker - Kaboul - King - BAE
Lennon - Parker - Modric - Bale
VdV
Adebayor

GK, Dawson, Corluka, Sandro, Hudd, Kranjcar, Defoe

With VdV our best player, Lennon as our weakest first XI player, Defoe the strongest bench option, Corluka the weakest in the matchday squad. Seems pretty much right.

Steven Caulker - 9th rated at Swansea, 6.62 rating, 86% pass completion, 47% aerial success; very strong passing.

Kyle Naughton - 4th rated at Norwich, 6.82 rating, 76% pass completion, 56% aerial success, 0.7 shots per game; very strong tackling, strong interception.

Obviously doesn't really tell us anything conclusive, but useful to get a picture of how it seems they're getting on.

They'll just have some kind of algorithm which calculates the number of goals each team concedes from each type of situation, the total number of goals conceded and how that matches with some standard across the league.

Not sure it's very meaningful, but for what it's worth it probably demonstrates that across the league we concede more goals from wide areas than most.

In the PL we have conceded the most goals from crosses this season, I read it yesterday somewhere

I posted it originally, so not spam... but it is a very useful site for all kinds of stuff.

"defending against skillful players" I imagine most teams find it harder than against unskillful ones.
As for defending a lead only against newcastle (twice) this season it's hardly been a problem.
