I'd be all for a move to Stratford, if its the best option, if...
The cub retains a 'significant presence' at White Hart Lane after moving to Stratford. What is a significant presence?
A proposal would be something like - the club retain its headquarters and a proportion of the White Hart site as a club headquarters. Perhaps a reduced capacity stadium of around 4,000 as a b-team pitch on the current playing surface?
What about the remaining parts of the original site & the areas already purchaed for the original NLD? How about development into a 'THFC village' similar to the Library? Why not make the area arround WHL a desirable resitential project and use that to finance the transition from the current stadium into an integrated THFC headquarters, training/reserve pitch and resdential village?
In that kind of scenario - Tottenham Hotspur remain a Tottenham based club - they may play in a stadium elsewhere, but the club remain rooted at their place of origin.
The team bus would leave through the gates of Bill Nicholson Way - drive to the stadium and when the players ran on the pitch the crowd would sing...
"We are Tottenham, Super Tottenham, From the Lane!"
And you'd be stood in Stratford, and it'd feel ok - and you'd sing too.
I'd love to thee the NLD happen - but if we do move to Straford, what we do with the current site is crucial to the continued identity of our club.
