Its always been arsenal. If that's what you turn into by being the biggest club in London then no thanks.

Nothing we didn't know already. I'm the last 20 years both Arsenal and Chelsea have won far more than us and competed in the CL most years.

As far as I'm concerned though, Arsenal and Chelsea having a far larger social media following just means they are followed by more tedious, narcissistic twats than we are, so all good on that front ;).

Took a wrong turn about 20 years ago and struggled to find our way back. Looking better now and with a bit of silverware we could also boast a lot more fair weather fans. Oh the joy.

I don't think we've ever had a league attendance of about 5k in the top flght.

Most goons and chav supporters live in Africa anyway, only ever seen their team on SKY........

Just as football and the PL was exploding worldwide - we had Sugar and his frankly astounding lack of vision or planning. We've been trying to catch up ever since.

True. I think the goons had the vision and Chelsea the money (albeit through staggering amounts of debt snd then Roman soon after Sugar sold us).

The financial mare that was the turn of the 90s was really what set us back. A lot of people forget how close we were to bankruptcy, and I was only 2 at the time!
I think that was/has always been in the back Sugar's/Levy's minds, but yeah the lack of vision post Klinsmann pretty much killed us that decade and most of the 00s.

Levy's field trips across Europe after sacking Hoddle (2003/04) was the turn against the tide for me, with Jol being the man who got the rebuild going and really restored some pride.

No, it wasn't being close to bankruptcy that set us back, it was the way Sugar ran the club for the next ten years - he treated people around the club awfully, those who worked there, ex-players, the club became a shell with no heart or soul. He was a disaster.

Social media following is just a reflection of how many younger fans clubs have, Chelsea and Arsenal have a disproportionate number of younger fans as they've been successful more recently than us. The numbers are probably much more even when you look at people 40+. The younger fans are not the kind of fans that are really contributing to the revenue stream.

Really don't think Chelsea are anywhere near as big as ppl think. They still get crap crowds during the season.

They're Millwall with money. A large amount of glory hunting new 'fans' rather than three decades of families support that us and Arsenal have.

Put it this way. If Chelsea were to have another 2 seasons like last one they would struggle to fill a 30,000 seater stadium.

Gotta be west ham hands down...

With all the bull shite and hot air there, it has to be bigger then anything else. Heat does make things expand u know...

Oh and they got pretty bubbles, lots of pretty bubbles. :ROFLMAO:

Must be another slow news day without much transfer stuff going on.

As much as it's horrible to admit, Arsenal are clearly Londons biggest club by any metric.

Chelsea, however, I simply discount. They aren't a football club, and haven't been for years. They're a corrupt criminal player trading exchange which deals in buying titles and trophies and whose achievements count for absolutely nothing in my mind. Before that they were a small racist club with a handful of hooligans for fans, now they're a bigger racist club with a handful of hooligans for fans as well as a bunch of plastic banker pricks.

We're clearly the next biggest, with West Ham distantly behind, and no other London club having achieved anything really of note to compare.

The criteria the article uses are predictably silly and pointless (social media followers? Attendance whenall clubs have different sized stadia?).

The PL era has destroyed the idea of history in football because it's been completely dominated by a tiny handful of clubs who have hoovered up all the money and therefore all the trophies and hardly any other teams have had a look in. It's skewed all the historical records and made comparisons like these pretty pointless IMO - none of these rankings will ever change because the same teams will continue to win everything for the foreseeable future.

I always wonder why some people worry themselves about such abstract concepts such as a football teams' 'bigness'. Do you enjoy watching and supporting Spurs? Well that's all that matters. A ridiculous dick measuring contest over which is the 'bigger' club is actually pretty laughable imo.

However, both Chelsea and Spurs have plans for big new stadiums, so perhaps judging their size based on attendance is a little unfair.

But you'll still rank the blue scumbags above us with lottery funded trophies ? Shite article.
