We’ve bottled it, let’s not pretend we haven’t. We got ourselves in a great position to finish the job & we look like blowing it as per.
The problem is we were plying catch up. You cannot just go along winning matches.

we went on a great run which allowed us back in it. That was never going to carry on because we are nowhere near good enough

The same with Arsenals bad run, it was going to stop at some point because even though they aren’t great, they aren’t that bad

We’ve thrown it away :( relying on huge & unrealistic favours now. As well as getting our own house in order, which is proving difficult.

Lol what is unrealistic about beating Arsenal ourselves or them dropping points in a London derby at West Ham or the most form team in the league at Newcastle ? Completely realistic imo.

The lack of urgency within the team is worrying I think they will beat us not just for top four but in the head to head.

I agree to an extent.

Of course, I would prefer to be in it. But there's a good chance Tottenham Hotspur are knocked out early.

Now, if we took the Europa Cup more seriously and actually set out to win it, our chances are much higher and I'd much rather prefer winning that in a way that Sevilla often do than getting knocked out of the CL early.

I just don't see us ever replicated our run to the CL final.

I suppose we are in between a rock and a hard place. We need CL regularly to be a part of the big boys, so we pass on Europa and focus on getting top 4, yet we aren't big enough or have the pedigree of winners to consider ourselves as a serious CL team.

Agree with all of that exactly.

Until we can have a shot on target, beating any team atm seems unrealistic lol

WHam will be without no recognised centre backs & at Newcastle they might not even need a win.

We just have to sort our own house in order & make them NEED all 3 points, heading into those games, as we will be playing before them in the fixtures ahead.

Lets see what happens before we throw in the towel completely. Still all to play for. Do you really think arsenal won't lose a couple of games from here on in? We may as well but no point in giving up yet.

I don't really see the CL as the be all and end all to be honest.

Players like harry kane etc see it as essential. We really need it to push on next season. Without I think conte definitely walks and harry will be wanting out as well but levy will make it difficult for him to leave. I have no faith in us replacing what harry gives us if he goes.

Will West Ham maybe now need to play a couple of their stronger players who they wanted to rest against Arsenal given they need to accommodate having no centre backs? Or am I clutching?

Just trying to stay as positive as possible

Harry wants to win trophies.

I agree with the rest of that but also accept it.

We just need to win our own games & see what happens.

Hopefully doing so will put more pressure on them heading into their games, which follows ours.

They certainly aren't slipping up today. They won't give up on the title until it's definitely done.

Our hope is that they find it difficult to balance the semi final.

However, Brentford had a weakened backline yesterday and were missing their most important midfielder and we still created jack.

We seem to do this quite often
I agree. The only hope I have is the fact that Liverpool always play on the front foot with a very high line and so if we’re smart in possession we can certainly hurt them on the counter and I’m sure we’ll find space

I’m hoping Arsenal drop points to Leeds and or Newcastle

They probably won't know until after the first leg. Fatigue, injuries and state of the tie. I think the odds are that they will have a similar team as today and that Arsenal will be far more energized for it. The Newcastle game looks our best bet of dropped points and possibly even Everton although it could all be done by then.

Arsenals luck continues. Dawson, WHU’s only recognized CB gets a straight red at Chelsea. You couldn’t make it up.

The thing that pisses me off is that our future is so uncertain season after season. We aren't big enough to be assured that our best players and coach will stay if we fall short, which means the penalty for that is always amped up. It's made watching this team barely pleasurable because every poor performance increases the jeopardy.

In some ways I do envy the gooners with their project as at least you don't have to worry about the above. I dearly hope we manage to finish fourth, but I don't see it and until we get through the summer I doubt I'll have any faith in our club.

It’s ok saying Harry wants to win trophies but every time we get a sniff of one he doesn’t turn up. It’s not just him but I keep getting pissed off with this attitude that he deserves to win things because he’s a star but he rarely shines when he needs to. If he’s not won any trophies a lot of the fault is his.

Im not sure if the blame can solely be directly onto Kane but he should take as much flack as any other player. As a club I feel we need to make some big decisions next season with some players. This can’t carry on as we are, it’s ground hog day once again. We more or less have EL football next season, let’s win the thing With or without Kane.

There is something to this. Harry has not been playing for Watford and Wolves these last few years. There have been plenty of opportunities to win trophies here at Tottenham. I don't know how many semi-finals we've lost in the last 6/7 years but I do know that we have played in 4 finals including the the big one in Madrid and we have not scored a single goal in those 4 finals.

Also, the guy really needs to start acting like the model pro everyone (including himself) makes him out to be.

I love the guy, he's one of the best footballers I've seen and some of his performances this season would have put him into the Ballon d'Or discussion, if he had played for a better team. But the entitlement…

… I can't stand the freaking entitlement in important situations. Not showing up on so many occasions when it really matters, the disrespectful and unsettling interview during the home-stretch of last season and that SILLY trip to the US to watch golf on the home-stretch of this season.

I know, I know, one player's trip on a fancy private jet shouldn't impact our team, but honestly, it's just so unprofessional. When you are in the form of your life, WHY would you mess up the routine that brought you there by crossing five time zones? Even if there are a million other reasons his forms has dropped off, it just sends all the wrong signals.

If you want to be a leader, win titles, and be one of the greatest, you also have to assume more responsibility than others. It's time he starts doing that when it really matters. Preferably right now.
