People!!

Am i the only one that thinks we really should've gone for Mikel Arteta!??
And i don't mean on deadline day, but a long, LONG time ago.

As a central midfielder who can pull all the strings, make some killer passes, link play and even score goals, not to mention he's totally proven in the premiership - wouldn't he have been an ideal replacement for Modric.

Hell! We could've taken Chelski's £40m, bought Arteta for £10m, got ourselves a decent striker and still have some left over for a tidy Centre Back!..........AND some pie and chips!!

I just can't help thinking that the Scum have really bagged a bargain!!

Thoughts?

Not fit to tie Modrics bootlaces, i want the best at this club and Modric Imo is the best

Agree! Modric is better, but you can't deny Arteta's skill. He's a quality player who would've fitted perfectly into our team.
Imagine him being able to feed Bale and Lennon - not to mention a more advanced VDV.

Besides, who knows how Modric will play now.........if he plays that is!

Really? You honestly don't think he's good enough to be on pitch, starting?
I think without Modric there, Arteta would start, certainly ahead of Niko, Hudd and possibly Parker.

What makes you think he would want to come us? Arsenal can offer CL football and a world class manager that players want to work with.

True! But i'm talking about why didn't we go in for him long before the ARSE were sniffing around!

You can't for one minute say that we're not a better option than Everton.

I think with the option of at least being in a European competition and with the opportunity to push hard for CL, i think we could've landed him.

Judging by their forums, Everton fans are not particularly upset to see him leave. They reckon that he hasn't contributed much in the last 18 months or so.

He may have a new lease of life at Arsenal, but I don't think many people would put him on the same level as Modric.

Injury prone, and not been good for Everton since that lengthy lay-off he had.

Not that much of a better option, Everton are usually pushing for a European place, finished fourth once, got to the FA cup final in 2009. It's pretty similar to us really except that we spent far more than Everton.

Ok! On reflection, i guess you're right.
But i still feel that we're the better 'footballing' side and as Arteta fits the 'clever footballer' mould, i think he could've been a useful addition.

Besides, we've also got a better squad with arguably better 'longevity'!

No?

Yeah a better squad, better footballing side? Debatable, there were a lot of long balls up to Crouch last season. He's a useful addition if he is ok with being a squad player, which at this stage of this career I don't think he would be.
