We don't need a new stadium

Does make you think though, last season the RM could have sold out five times over (and it's not like the economy was doing great was it..) yet for Kazan the people clammering for a larger stadium were not evident. Obviously there are a hardcore of fans who want to go week-in, week-out and can't currently get to all the games, but my suspicion is many of the people Levy & Co are banking on to fill the larger stadium will only do so if we remain successful. Hopefully we will have a self-fulfilling prophecy where the larger turnover from the new ground is invested in the club aiding our chances of regular champions league football, which brings in more investment as well as attracting sell-out crowds. However if we do have a lean spell, do SC'ers think we have circa 60,000 spurs fans that are willing AND able to go every week regardless of on-field success?

Steve, you know the Dear Leader will factor this stuff in, and factor it in far more comprehensively than we mere punters can.

Yeah agreed - how about £20 for adults and £10 for kids? And programmes at £10 a pop?

I don't personally think people should have to feel that they have to attend every game to be classed as a true fan! Evening games are difficult for many who travel in and for this game, understandably, it may have been a big effort. I'm sure that many people had reasons why they didn't go, or didn't want to go even, being a fan doesn't mean you have to be there at every game! I have sat there on freezing nights against teams like Southend, I'm no part-timer but I didn't attend on Thursday,

I spend a small fortune that I don't really have on my season ticket, I had to miss this one - but had very real reasons. My Auntie has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer, I have had to spend money travelling up and down the A1 to see her and had to visit her on Friday so didn't want a late night Thurs - and didn't have the money etc. I hate having to justify myself but that's my reason. Aside from this I have other reasons, but that was why I wasn't there on Thursday. Indeed I will miss more games this season. Such is life, sometimes there are things that take priority.

I don't see why there is scrutiny surrounding it, I make a joke with my fellow shelf-siders when they don't show up, but I'd never seriously take issue with someone not coming. One guy's girlfriend gave birth to his son and he came straight to the game like the next day, I gave him more stick for that! The club needs to lower the prices for these games, it's a nice time for people to bring their kids.

I'd go further, my friend is a mad spurs fan. Used to have a season ticket but now he's out of work looking after his daughter. The only game he's been to in the last 2 years was the Orient friendly this season. I went to Madrid and Milan but wouldn't class myself as much as a supporter as him.
I know that there are people around the world who can't get to games but still love the club with all their hearts, because they don't go to Sunderland away doesn't change that.
At the end of the day we all love spurs and that should be all that counts.

The way that football is going, in 50 years all clubs will have gone bankrupt.

Apart from us, we'll be champions in a league of our own and Daniel Levy's cryogenically frozen head will sit on a plinth with a smug grin on its face, staring down at the pitch from a crystal diplay case in his private box.

Apart from the fact that I would find the Levy-head bit totally plausible and within Levy ambitions Eek

Yeah I can definately see it happening, maybe Robo-King will lift him above his head like a cup after we're declared default winners of the champions league every year.

In a continuously precarious economic state, I don't think people can be judged for not wanting to shelve out the best part of £50-60 to watch effectively, Spurs' reserves.

OK, in the end the team wasn't as second string as it has been, but the performance certainly didn't have the intensity of usual matches. I was there and most of the ground was extrememly subdued, bar the people that we're evidently there on a rare occassion.

It's all good and well slating fans for this and that, but I don't think there's a more loyal bunch of fans than Spurs fans. Yes we're moany, but we'd never see the stadium as it was against Rubin on a regular basis. Even in the darker days of the 90's and early 00's, WHL would rarely not be capacity-filled on a matchday.

On that basis, we do need a new stadium, it's evident we do. What I do agree is that it won't be full for ALL matches. We might have a few games here and there, especially maybe towards the end of a season where we aren't particularly challenging for much other than pride, i.e the end of last season, where we don't have 56.000 in the stadium. Arsenal certainly didn't have 60.000 today agaisnt Stoke, no one is saying "oh why did they build a new stadium".

Its very arrogant for people to look down their nose at other fans or call them lesser fans for not having the means or funds to go to games.
