Come on fellas. The last stragglers, still clinging to belief that Dawson is the new Terry Butcher, the penny must surely be dropping (which is what he needs).

Yesterday we had a 20yo Frenchman in his slot and a diminutive CM next to him and yet there was very little drama. None of the gung ho madness we have got used to. No dopey grinned pantomime.

The self destruct button stayed firmly concealed in it's protective covering. Defcon 5 never requiring it's unvailing.

Hello........can you here me ......come in number 20 your time is well and truly fucking up.

I'm beyond caring who we play at CB now, just as long as we have more perfomances like yesterday. What's to say we wont play brilliantly against City, Arsenal and Boro with Zoko/Kaboul or Daws/Kaboul, and then as soon as King returns, we start fucking up at the back again?

Our back 4 is a Lottery.

I keep saying it. Dawson will be a future captain and a club legend.

If I'm wrong. Sue me.

I think Dawson is brilliant, he still so young & naive. He'll come good.

He has no pace, poor distribution and poor game reading skills. Everything you do not want from a central defender.

I cannot wait for when he is sold to Derby, Birmingham or Fulham.

I completely disagree. His passing is just as good as any other centre-back's, if not better. He barely waste a pass out of defence unless it's a rushed clearance.

He's brilliant in the air and you need that. He's a key player.

In his debut half season he looked very promising. I was impressed.

The next season (05-06, also jol´s first full season) he was also pretty solid. Often alongside Gardner.

Last season (06-07) he was not great at all but I thought he tried his heart out, taking bumps, bruises, concusssions and being the only fit defender all the way through the season. the quality was really lacking though and he was getting found out as a bit 2nd rate.

This season has been his worst so far. And as SS57 says, he has failed to be the "senior" defender.

I think he may be one of those players that promised much early on but tended to get worse as time went on - Michael Ricketts, John o Shea.

The penny dropped for me, B-C, mid-way through last season that he will never make the grade as a top class CB.

In fact, I think Calum Davenport (don´t laugh) may turn out to be the more accomplished defender over time (never really understood why he was a laughing stock and Dawson some kind of hero - and was not convinced we got rid of the right guy. He´s been injured since hé´s been at West Ham so I guess it´s a moot point comparing them recently).

When Daws was with King at CB he did very well because he had the guidance of a top class player who is well seasoned in the postion. He is still only young and has plenty of time to develope into a leader. TBH when Daws was doing well people werent quick enough to sing his praises but because we hasnt played well in some games this season like the defence as a whole we all of a sudden get a thread saying he is crap. What a load of rubbish. Take a look at some of the top class CB's around the EPL and tell me that when they were young that they were world class and were never found wanting? Nesta, when he was in his early lazio days was never world class but look at what the experience and muturity has done for him. FFs give the boy a chance. Yes when he turned up at spurs he looked really promising and imho still does, with the right guidance and coaching he will be a a great centre back for our beloved club.

Hmmmn, the parallels are uncanny.

Robbo is shit, drop him.
Dawson is shit, drop him.

Robbo was great in the first season, hasn't been any good since.
Dawson was great in the first season, hasn't been any good since.

Robbo convieniently picks up an injury to keep him out of the firing line.
Dawson convieniently is sick to keep him out of the firing line.

Sell Robbo while we can get some money for him.
Sell Dawson while we can get some money for him.

And now for my own particular thoughts on this. Support Dawson while he is going through a bad patch, after all as supporters of the team isn't that what we are supposed to do, rather than slagging of the next Joe Smoe who's not playing at 110% every week.

Worked for Robbo didn't it.

dawson was class the last couple of seasons finishing 5th and now he's shit?

You don't just turn "Shit". maybe he's lacking confidence or maybe he hasn't got the greatness of king helping him out, who knows but you can tell by the lack of confidence around him and the lack of quality is effecting our back four.

Dawson of old used to head EVERYTHING out of the box maybe he doesn't do this because he knows that the midfiled won't handle the ball and it will come right back on him again.

who knows.

For those of you who say Dawson is still young he is 24 that is not that young in footballing terms, he has played for 2 and half years in the premier league and is still making the same fundamental mistakes he made when he first joined. Yes he is good with a world class CB along side him but, then again who wouldn't look good alongside Ledley.

For the record his best season with us 05-06 season he had the extremely experienced Stalteri at RB and Ledley as his CB pairing. There were a number of times when King and Stalteri had to cover for his mistakes.

I still hope Ramos can get into his head and turn him into the top class CB we thought he could be when he first joined.

What i meant was that you were laughing against those that wasn't so impressed with Dawson.

It might be that you rate him to highly and keep lying to yourself just because you want him to be good.

Try and place him in a top-team in Europe and see how many teams he would get a place in.
