Got home pretty late last night, and haven't seen whether it was precautionary or worse.

Did anything get said in the post match interviews?

They said on TV just after half time that he felt it get a little tight so came off before it got worse, so may not be too bad, but may miss the weekend game

Precautionary I think. Sky said he felt a bit of tightness at half time was subbed to be on the safe side.

Thanks guys

All in all I think I'll take that! Could be a lot worse, and his 45 minute were vital

I thought Jenas did a decent job, albeit not in the hole behind Crouch. Jenas to start against Bolton I imagine.

I thought Crouch was isolated at times without VDV but somehow it worked.

We need to take the intensity from last night's performance into the Bolton game.

I thought that too, and i would say i think Pav plays better there on his own when VDV isnt up there helping

vdv said on sky it wasnt too bad that he'll take a few days rest. reckon we'll leave him out on saturday and let him rest up for a few days so he doesnt do himself any serious damage

I think VDV is an incredibly intelligent player and knew that if he pushed it, he could do some damage and be out for a while, so it was better to come off than stay on and risk it. The fact that he was able to do the damage to Inter and then get out at the right time speaks volumes for his professionalism and experience.

Why not just play Kranjcar? Yeah he's not VdV class, but he's in the same mould?

Don't agree that he is the same type of player. I think the 3 CM's for the second half should start.

If anything I would bring Kranjcar in for Bale, who really needs a rest so we don't burn him out.

Might be an idea to rest Bale & VDV against Bolton...don't want those monkeys crippling them with some shite excuse for a tackle.

Time to give Bentley, Krancjar etc a bit of a run out.

I wanted them to bring in Krunchy last night for vdv. It would have kept us in our attacking mentality, something Harry bet right on and knew we'd have to do.

Instead we parked the bus in the 2nd half, bringing on Jenas and eventually Palacios. Luckily Kaboul and Gallas had good games and Eto'o only had a few chances to hurt us, capitalizing on one.

Milito almost changed the game for them too.. inches away from scoring because we kept giving their strikers too much room around the 18 and it almost bit us in the ass.

we parked the bus and scored 2 goals in the second half? wow.... i would have hated us to attack Inter then

Jenas on for VDV was as close to like to like that we had, if we wanted to "park the bus" we would have put on Palacios at that point

I disagree with you, bringing on Jenas was probably the right move as pace was troubling the inter defence. Also we restricted the inter team to long shots and shots from insane angles, which is testament to how well our CM and defence played. If Milito had scored that strike from 18-20 yards it would have been a wonder strike rather than bad defending

We did attack Inter. In the first half. Went up 1-0.

Scoring 2 breakway goals from our end of the pitch in the second half isn't attacking football, but you knew that.

It's clear that Harry values Jenas right now, rates him highly. He's been vindicated for sure. Jenas has been the right choice most of the time.

I'm just saying that we went from attacking Inter in the first half to going on the defensive in the second half. Obviously I'm happy with the result. Rewatch the game. There is a reason we were all nervous in the 2nd half.. Inter had us on our heels, they brought on Milito and that little Brazilian dude who Bale knocked over by the flag.

So all we did in the second half was 2 counter attacks? we didnt do anything else? go back and watch the game and the come back.....

we didnt attack as much but thats because inter threw everythign they had at us so pushed back a little more but we didnt park the bus

Er, we did attack them in the second half, I seem to remember Bale attempting a shot over his head on the edge of their box, Crouchy having a header and there were other moments - oh yeah the second goal!, and nearly another for Crouch when Bale only just took it out...

Yes Inter had a spell but we mananged it very well, and we passed the ball brillantly. Parked the bus? Not in a million years. We were never on the rack. Difference between a team probing and looking semi threatening and to one who is pulverising you - and you cant push up and everybody is behind the ball defending for their lives.
