Afternoon Cat1989 :hello:

I think Keano has been underated in the past, but more and more people seem to be coming round to the fact that he is a bloomin' great team player / striker!

Lampard is a difficult one. For Chelsea I wouldn't say he is overated as he regularly runs the midfield for them and scores more than his fair share of goals and provides loads of assists from open play and set piece situations. England is another matter though, as he is well overated for us...

Terry is another one like Lampard. Although I feel he is indeedy a tosspot for Chelsea he is immense - a leader, tightens them up at the back and scores a nice amount of goals for a CB. For England at the mo I feel he is overated at the mo - when he first came into the team he was great but lately he's been very average and if King actually managed to keep his fitness I reckon he would have usurped him by now (well under Capello anyways as McClaren prob had his favs like Sven).

Ronaldo is quite frankly, one of the best midfielders / players in the world IMO so he probably isn't rated highly enough! (even though he can be a cheating *snip*)

Hmmm now other players... I've tried to pick some weird choices...

Steve Sidwell is underated I reckon (see my post in his thread for reasons).

Matthew Etherington - a lot of people are gonna disagree, but in my opinion, he is a very good left winger providing pace, able to beat players (when he was with us in a friendly against an Italian team they put 2 players on him) and put in nice crosses. I never wanted him to leave WHL.
Shame he appears to have a gambling problem - I'll not go into the gesturing incident as we all have mad moments when we lose our rag!

Mathieu Flamini - I know, I know he's a goon but before this season who'd have thought what a good central midfielder he was? Underated until this season.

Hmmm, now overated, this took me a while but I finally thought of someone...

Ashley Cole - a worm of a person, I mean Cheryl is FIT how could he... ahem, back to football.
Apart from a small spell back at Goonland and England during this period I've never felt he is as good as some think he is. I'd actually go as far as sticking Nicky Shorey in the England Team for a period of time and rated Wayne Bridge before Chelsea ruined him... (he can be added to my underated list)

Thnx 4 the reply...
I never actually thought about Ashley Cole - but yep he is deffo overated...it doesnt help that he is an ex-goon...

Its the same here about Etherington leaving WHL...he is a a skillful player...

Ronaldo - u say Cheryl i say Ronaldo (hmm mayb thats because ur male n im female...lol...i h8 wags)... he is a skillful player...ye he cheats n in the England game when he got Rooney sent off i wasnt impressed :( ... but overall he is a class player...

Flamini - i havnt really watched much of arsenal's games but u seem 2 know what your on about so i'll take your word for it :D

By the way are you a pro at writing football articles...your wording is what you normally see on the internet news pages lol...many of the people on here seem 2 be like that...

Underated - Jol - i know hes not a player but i still think he is an excellent manager - i had a lot of respect 4 the guy...n yeah i no Ramos took us 2 Wembley n we won the Carling Cup (still not gotten over it) but i think the whole situation was handled badly...

Carrick well underated , any other nationality and he'd be one of the first name's on the team sheet for world cup / euros IMO !

Jamie Carrigaha – he is brave but that’s about it.
Steven Gerrard – he does well for Liverpool where he is surrounded by better technical players but struggles for England when he isn’t. He’s a good premiership midfielder, but not world class.
Frank Lampard – see Steven Gerrard
Michael Owen – All the things that made him great have gone.
Jermain Defoe – the best natural finisher in the business? Just what business are we talking about.
Scott Carson and Ben Foster – both average at best. And both have made errors that are way beyond anything Robo has ever done. (Carson v Croatia and Foster v Robbo!)

Underrated

Hmmm, I’m obviously bias. But the only ones I can think of are all Spurs players.

Ledly King – Spurs’s best kept secret is that King is world class, other teams think he’s a good international quality defender, but they don’t know the whole story.
Jonathan Woodgate – If Spurs bought this guy for £8m (my source said it was £5.5m) he’s seriously underrated by someone.
Darren Bent – After seeing him this season, just about everyone thinks he’s been really poor (read as absolute shit). Surly he must be better that this!
Paul Robinson – had a torrid time this season and apparently because of that he’ll never be any good again.

Ok, I’ll stick Flamini in there as well. He’s done really well for the scum this season.

i dont think Darren Bent gets played enough thats the problem...

Paul Robinson - he does seem 2 look like he falls asleep quite a bit tho when in goal...but when he does save then every1 thinks he's great...but a good goalie at that...

Ledley King - Yep he is deffo underated....

I've always thought that Kevin Nolan is a bit under rated. Works his nuts off for Bolton.

Underrated -

Robert Green - I think he's a really good keeper, should be in contention for an England start more often. And has a cheeky grin too.

Niko Krancjar - Can really use the ball well, has great vision & technique. Reminds me of Arteta.

Jagielka - Has been eclipsed by the rise of Lescott, but I think he's just as good, maybe even slightly better.

Stevie G overrated????? Do me a favour!!!!!

Lampard IS overrated. If he aint scoring what is he doing???? He only has goals to his game.

Gerrard can score goals, defend, tackle and play in pretty much any position. IMO he his a million times better than big fat frank.
Bent underrated??? Nope. Just Shite!

oh and Flamini?????? Now you are just attention seeking!!!

Agreed.

Juande Ramos is eager to bring Aston Villa keeper Scott Carson to Tottenham as he looks to replace current number one Paul Robinson. (Various)

Someone said that Kranjcar was under rated and I would say that when he came to Portsmouth that he was but I think he has proved what a good player he is and he isn't anymore.

I think that Benjani is an over rated player and I may not have to many people agree with me but I would say that Torres is over rated. He is a quality player when he plays at Anfield but whenever I see Liverpool play away he just doesn't seem to be in the game.

Leon Osman at Everton is a player that I would definetly say is under rated. Again somebody mention Jagielka earlier but the last few games I have seen Everton on the TV the commentators have been talking him up alot so I would say that he is getting the credit that he deserves.

In the Spurs team I would say that Tainio doesn't really get the credit that he deserves, maybe not from the Spurs fans but from the media. Maybe its just that as he is injured alot.

He's nothin but a squad player for england which IMO is a big shame! yeh your prob right about if he has done anything to get into the press , but carricks the sort of player who IMO does a very good job on the pitch and it will always go unnoticed due to the "stars" claiming the headlines e.g Rooney, Ronaldo ect !

Yeah good shout I'd forgotten about Robert Green - he's a good goalie and not rated as highly as he should be (think he's quite a sucessful pentalty saver too).

Jagielka, I started a thread in general footie forum donkeys ago but it's probably waaaaaay back so I won't try and find it!
Yeah he's a good and versatile player, great for squad options - played a kinda Carricky role for Sheffield United and plays centre back for Everton. Also able to play at right back which I'm sure was his original position when he broke into United's team but don't quote me on that!

Krancjar I know nothing about apart from he's skillfull and left-footed, but 'Arry certainly seems to rate him judging about the way he was raving about him when he signed!
