“One Troy out and one Troy in, do daa do daa, one Troy out and one Troy in, doo be doo ba day”!

Yeh that’s shit, see why I don’t post offen?!

Here’s a bunch of strikers we’ve been linked with the last couple of seasons who are in most cases available and attainable.

If we’re wanting a young, exciting and in form striker then you’re looking at Musa Barrow and Schick (few years older).

Barrow - young, quick, playing well
Malen - as per Barrow but currently out with a long term knee injury
Raul Jimenez - 29, playing well for Wolves
Schick - 23? done well at Leipzig but they reportedly can’t afford the £25m fee
Jovic - young, had a fantastic season in Germany but out of favour at Madrid. Potentially expensive though
Mitrovic - strong, a goal scorer, calmed down the last couple of seasons... a possibility if Fulham don’t get promoted
Watkins - quick, excelled in the championship. Another who’s feasible if Brentford don’t get promoted
Niang - very exciting youngster but didn’t developed as hoped. However he’s 25 or so now and playing well in France. Reportedly available for under £30m
Muriqi - a brute of a player and very hardworking
Edouard - young, strong, promising
Dzyuba - experienced target man
Weghorst - very tall but decent with his feet
Wilson - strong, decent pace, EPL experience

Surely we’re capable of signing one of the above aforementioned players before we head into desperation and sign a Sunday league striker in Deeney?

I recall Gold reporting that in an interview with Jose he had said that he wasn’t looking for older experienced players in the next transfer window. So, if that’s correct then I don‘t think Jose would be considering Deeney

Utd signed Ighalo and barely play him apart from the Europa league games, why not sign Deeney and do the same?

Because in the last 2 seasons Kane has got injured, which is why we need a back up. Also Ighalo did once score 15 goals in a season from open play for Watford.

Deeney's last 5 seasons have been 7,7,2,7,5. I don't see how a player gets a move to Spurs based on that. I don't get why he's being discussed. It's making me rate Calum Wilson.

We are in need of a striker who will get limited minutes, I don't see many lining up to sit on the bench, why not if we can get him and Wilson they are two decent back ups to Kane?

“It’s hard to sign players in (insert window). Clubs want money and shit, it’s difficult, you don’t understand how hard it is to do these deals”

Above is a brief excerpt from my upcoming book 101 Spurs transfer excuses ?

We don't need a striker who will get limited minutes! We need a striker who can deputise for Kane. We don't know how many minutes that will be, hence he has to be good enough. Look at the teams just above us. Chelsea have just signed Werner, they already have Giroud and Abraham. Utd have Martial, Rashford and Greenwood, before they'd need to consider Ighalo. Even Leicester and Vardy, Iheanacho and Perez. Anyone of those 9 players (10 if you include Ighalo) is a better option than Deeney. You don't get better than your rivals by buying worse players than them!

Letting Llorente go without a replacement, and leaving us without a Plan B after 70 minutes, was probably the most under-appreciated contributing factor as to why last season started so badly and Poch ended up losing his job. Not the biggest factor, but the most under-appreciated.

Let’s face it, Kane’s back up is a tough job description to fill. We have a tiny budget and we’re not getting Wilson for £10m and anyway he’ll want a lot of games. Deeney won’t. He’s just what we need AT THIS TIME. He’s also a bloody great guy. Listen to Louis Theroux’s recent interview with him and you’ll want him at Spurs: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p08grz6g

He'd probably be more useful than Llorente tbf. Fernando has a touch more subtlety but Deeney can similarly use his body, win aerial duels and wrestle with defenders but crucially is a lot more mobile and dynamic. However I can't say I'd have that much confidence in this guy if Kane was injured for an extended spell. He'd probably be quite a good third striker to have, and if we were a serious serious club we might wanna bring this guy in for peanuts and then go for someone like a Milik (granted it looks like he's off to Juve) in addition.

He or Giroud could be decent short term options but would be worried if we had to rely on them for a lengthy period of cover
