when the manager is talking up the opposition as equivilant to Barca (don't know whether he believes this or is covering his arse) and talking us down at every given chance just to excercise his gob, then the players just took those excuses and ran with them (or not as the case was)

I blame Pav.

I hope Levy responds to this result. The next few days will tell us everything about our ambition. We need some big news to kick start the season. Adebayor will add a great deal up top. Lets hope he hits the ground running even though he has had no pre-season. VDV managed to do it last season so you never know.

I'm just glad these 2 results have happened now with plenty of time to get things right. We have plenty of injuries right now and even Modric isn't 100% coming off an injury. I'm not using it as an excuse for todays result because we should've done a lot better. But we aren't that bad and we have so much better to come as yet this season.

Exactly what I was thinking, I really, really hope we act upon this within the next few days, or we'll get left behind for sure.

We've just been utterly humiliated at home by a team that finished third last season. Give me a break with the excuses.

yes we got thrashed, is it the players fault??? is it harry's fault?? is it Levy's fault ??? the answer is NO. had we lost in this manner to wigan, wolves, bolton, blackburn, sunderland, newcastle, fulham etc i would understand the suicidal tendancies. CAN YOU NOT SEE THE GULF IN QUALITY and what city have at their disposal????? we stood no chance really and i am not making excuses. man city have spent improving, so has man utd and liverpool, remind me what we have done so far on the signing front??? or yes we chased adebayor all off season long.

Face it, we had no bite in midfield, no width and no one seemed like they could be arsed.

We need 2 cb's, a winger, 2 cm's and another striker.

Huddlestone really isn't as great as people make him out to be, it's time to think of our future without Gallas and King. Adebayor can't do it all on his own. Jenas, Palacios, Kranjcar sell them and replace them with Livermore, Diarra, Parker. Sell Bassong and replace him with Samba and buy Cahill please, just buy Cahill.

Another winger could be Ruiz or someone I don't know and another striker? Who knows.

But we need to stop the rot, and stop it NOW.

But we have three days, so that's not do-able.

Has Gomes ever conceded 5 in his life?

There are a few of us who have been saying for months that our manager isn't good enough, hopefully the rest now see the light.

Sack him now and get Ancelotti/Wilkins!

I'm not getting too concerned at the moment. Today was god awful but when we are able to put out our best team, including Sandro, King & Adebayor we are going to be able to put in a better performance than that. throw parker into the mix, hopefully Cahil and someone who can cross the ball on the right and we will be ok and challenging, Ive no doubt about it.

I've never said it before and aways defended him before tday, but Harry needs to go... clearly he is in control of nothing

CD is where he should've been looking and all he can do is land friedel...

the time has come - get him out now
right now
I don't see how a slacker like adebyor is going to make this better

we have all been played like muppets and he just gets rich no matter what we get... we're all suqers

:bang: I have officially gone 'round the bend -- FUQ!!!!!!!

I posted in the match thread that i though Gomes would have saved a couple of those, especially Dzeko's looping header. I know he has a clanger in him, but things like that never get past him

 that's what i am

I can't believe people are suggesting we sell Modric. He wasn't our worst player today and he is not 100%. We've just lost 5-1 at home and you want us to sell our best player? If we were to sell Modric then do it at the start of the window so we have time to find a replacement and bed them in.

Now is far too late and we wont get time to spend the money. Not that I think we should sell him anyway. We need to keep him and today's result shows why. If we sell our best player we fall even further behind.

Hopefully Arsenal lose today and then at least we're no worse off than them. The season is a long one and we still have much to look forward to. Even though it feels the complete opposite right now. COYS

I think people just need to accept that there is now a top 3 and then 3 in a group just behind.

Man Utd, Man City and Chelsea (although they do look the weakest of the three) will finish in the top 3 (funnily enough they also pay the highest wages).

Fourth spot is a scrap between Arsenal, us and Liverpool. Of course the manner of the two defeats is disappointing, and thankfully Adebayor will be starting our next league game.

We've almost become like the Spanish league, with a well established top 3 and then a group fighting for fourth.

Totally agree, lets get rid and fucking move on, some sort of rebuild is needed here. If he doesnt want to play for us then get shot of him ffs.

Yeah, thats a good idea, lets sell all our best players and we can be in a relegation fight every year just like we use to be. :bang:

With a bit of fucking ambition players like dzeko and Suarez could have been signed last summer. We had cl football!! They are now ripping up tr league and we are chasing bellamy! Joke joke joke

100% correct. we got CL football and did sweet F'all and there lies the answer to our current state. city have the pounds i mean oil money and are willing to spend. we need our own sheik or uber rich russian oil tycoon.

No we should sell

Crouch
Lennon
