People are giving Lamela a lot of stick, but f**king hell we brought the lad on when we were under the cosh at the end. What do people expect. The lad is a work is progress, despite being thrown into the battle in this game he still tried to put himself about and give us an outlet. Let's not be too harsh.

Same can be said of Paulinho. He can on and f**king worked for us! People giving them stick is ridiculous and it is just people trying to pick holes rather than enjoying a great performance.

That was very encouraging!

It was a blend between Poch's high pressing philosophy but with our more traditional 442...

I suppose if the ethos is to work hard and press off the ball, you can do that regardless of whether you're playing 442, 4231, 433 etc etc. Looks like Poch has shown a bit of flexibility here which excites me.

Nice!

It's not his fault he was brought on but he's still accountable for his actions. Yes he's young, but so was the majority of our team, he was just a little naive and when we needed someone to hold on to the ball and sit off the opponent a little he was doing the opposite. He's not immune from criticism, and needs to be wiser in future. Anyway as you said, let's not take away from a great performance and that first half was one of the best I've seen from us in years.

Carragher's being a bit of an arsehole to Hoddle. Disagreeing with everything he says.

How is the Faz decision even debatable? Where the fuck are his arms supposed to be? Not only that, but it deflects off Lukaku and changes the direction of the ball...how could he possibly avoid it?!

I've seen them given. Thing is it always had to be hand to ball for it to be a handball, that doesn't matter any more, the player can be lying on the floor unconscious, brushes his arm and given handball. Should his hand be up there in the first place? Probably not, but in no way was it intentional.

tbf he is an attacker who had 3 or 4 chances to run at 1 defender on his own and contrived to balls it up each time. It's not as if he came on and didn't see any of the ball.
This is bollocks. Unless you are blessed with pace, getting one on one that far out doesn't give you a guilt edge chance. Yes he should have gone to the corners with the ball, but at least the lad is getting there to get on to the end of them.

I don't think we pressed enough.

We do from the back but more often than not we didn't from the front.
Obviously we DID score as a result of Kane pressing, but more times than not they were passing freely amongst themselves.
Much better performance then I've seen for quite sometime though.

I remember when Kane went on loan at first to Norwich and then to Leicester.... both fan bases never took to him and they were both poor loans.

Now look at him. Feel so happy for him.

Thats not completely right. At Norwich Kane was very good until he got injured. The injury sidelined him for the remainder of his loan, so its fair to assume that the Norwch fans forgot about him, but lot of Norwich fans thought he was very good in the first few games he featured.
