Is this any different from any other PL team competing in domestic cups and Europe? Why is ours more crazy? Because of one tie that is being moved?

Was thinking exactly the same thing, unless there is additional problematic dates due to Wembley?

It's not even correct. It's showing United away 29/10 and Real home 31/10 when it's actually 28/10 and 1/11.

because between now and December if we stay in this cup we are expected to play 3 games, but due to the delay to the Barnsley v Derby 2nd round, and also entering the checkertrade cup this season it means at the moment we will be having to play a round behind everyone else at the moment.

if we stay in it, it will mean 1 extra fixture in December, even though we will have 1 less in September, but due to the checkertrade it might mean having to bung a few 1st teamers in during an extra fixture in December which is already busy enough without an extra

Well, I don't know about you, but I didn't see this coming!

Blimey. Springing the Champions League and domestic cups on Poch like that, what's a manager to do?!

If only he'd known about these games and their vague timings last sea… Oh

A slightly different question......do you think we have the squad to cope with all these fixtures and maintain a high level like the back end of season?

Not yet.

But I hope we throw the EFL Cup anyway as it's a waste of time for all concerned.

Even for a second string?

I think for them it wouldnt be a waste of time and we need to start winning something, anything at all if we want to take the next step

I hope the players that play take it seriously certainly, but I hope none of the first team plays.

As Absolute Bobbins says, winning the EFL Cup wouldn't shut up the critics and barely means anything these days.

Yes you get a good day out of going to the final, but it really is a pointless competition these days and I'd take very little excitement out of winning it.

I think it should be scrapped as a competition for precisely this reason.

We a hardly fucking unlikely to play a full strength starting eleven against Barnsley or Derby.

Boy there are some drama Queens that reside in SC...

nope but if we get to the 5th round v someone strong we might go with a stronger team especially if the fixture clashes in a week we are due to play the checkertrade cup

Should we not worry about that when that time comes?

"If, maybe's, shoulda, woulda, coulda, all things that Poch has under control.

I would guess that Poch has the Checkertrade Cup set as a priority anyway...

1st my original post was quoting someone asking if it would make a difference. it will only make a difference if we get to still be in it in December.

at the moment we have 7 league fixtures in December, 1 hopefully still important CL fixture, and also the possibility of 2 EPL Cup games. the article just mentioned we could have a bit of a congested December which IF we make the 5th round (which the article was on about) means we have to squeeze it in, and as we will be playing the 4th round IF still in it when everyone else is playing the 5th round it means a CONGESTION!!!!!!! In a month we don't get a week without playing 2 fixtures a week.

as we have to use the U23 for the checker trade it would most probably mean we wouldn't be able to use our youngsters even if we wanted too. the Checkertrade might not be important to you, but ask our under 23's if they would like to progress
