Tottenham are exploring the possibility of re-signing Kyle Walker-Peters this summer, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs. According to The Athletic, when Spurs sold the 25-year-old to Saints two years ago they included a £30m buyback clause in the deal, which could see the north Londoners bring him back to N17.

I think we would have been better off keeping him at the time of sale, as he can arguably play RB better than Doherty and RWB better than Emerson. He's not exactly a world-beater though, so I'm confident we'd be discussing him as one of the key players to upgrade on if he was still here.

I initial thoughts echoed Twizzle's post above, but maybe it's possible that someone from our side is planting media speculation (or even going a step further and making an informal enquiry) to put pressure on Middlesbrough to accept our latest offer for Spence.

I think he was at a stage where he needed regular first team football. We just couldn’t guarantee him that.

He left in the deal that brought Pierre to us was seen as a great deal at the time as we paid an extra 3m.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing and if he does return than it's what the powers at be feel is best- I for one would welcome him.

Yep, I don’t think we sold him thinking he was a dud.

He just hadn’t been given a chance here and it was time to leave.

Agreed. It's just a shame that our recruitment of RBs / RWBs hasn't worked out better...with us now anticipating another recruit in this position for the third consecutive summer.

Transfermarkt's valuation of him has almost trebled during his two years at Southampton, but clearly his value wouldn't have been enhanced by another 1-2 seasons in our reserves. Tbh it's nice to see our academy graduates doing well, even if it's not in a Spurs shirt.

He would actually thrive as RWB and can also step in, though not as effectively, as a LWB, if needed. It's funny to me because it seems all the posts against the move are based on his time here and not on how he's currently playing for Southampton. Make no mistake, he's not the same player that got embarrassed by Dembele in the UCL, he's matured and developed thanks to the move to Southampton.

Ideal world we would take both, RWB we need to quality players 45 million minus Emerson and Doherty bargain.

Emerson is not good enough going forward
Doherty has had a few good months jury’s still out!

He wouldn't have had to wait "2 or 3 seasons" in the reserves as Trippier went soon after. We have messed up a few positions in the past but RB is the biggest cock up of then all in my opinion. Walker (although 50 mil and going to City we had no chance of keeping him) Trippier and then KWP. We sell the good ones and buy the rubbish. I saw him a few times last season and he's matured a lot and was playing really well and it got him in the England squad. I would welcome him back but having said all that I don't believe it's more than fake news.
