The general quality has been poor IMO.
I'm all for change up the top of the league and Leicester have been amazing and the EPL is very exciting to watch but I think you may be confusing entertainment with quality. You only have to look at English clubs performances in Europe in the last few year to see our top clubs are a long way behind the best

I don't really agree with the comparison in Europe by the top clubs in other countries. Munich in Germany and Barcelona and Real Madrid in Spain play in infinitely easier leagues that the premier league. They will win all their games on the whole. In the premier league anyone can beat anyone. It's miles tougher than their leagues where most weeks they don't have to get out of second gear. Makes it a lot easy to hoard the top players and keep them relatively rested for the big European games.

I'm not suggesting it's going to happen but does anyone else think that Poch and the squad are quietly confident we can mount a serious title challenge?

Every time they speak in the media they talk about finishing as high as we can and not putting any limits on where we can go without absolutely specifying any targets. They don't want to put it out there and put pressure on the team but I get the feeling that they haven't dismissed the possibility, if that makes sense.

I said a couple of weeks ago take it one game at a time. Different players have mentioned the same. I honestly think that's how we are approaching it. Let's see if that changes if we are this close to the top with 7 or 8 games left b

I watched a few games yesterday and it occurred to me that virtually every Premier League has a rather epic quality about it, in its gravity and importance, whether at the top or bottom. And virtually every game's a genuine contest. You can't say the same about any other top league and it's why, outside of the top games like El classico, as spectacle nothing compares with the Premier League.

I don't see Utd as a bigger threat if they get a new manager.
Like Chelsea that squad just isn't very good.
Like Chelsea I think they'll probably play better under a new manager but I still think they struggle.
Struggle until the new guy spends an absolute shit pile in the summer anyway.

Wouldn't bet on that personally. Mourinho will be eyeing the title never mind top 4 if he comes in over the next couple of weeks and signs one or two more players. No one is grabbing this league by the scruff of the neck at the moment and he could easily transform them.

They're probably the biggest threat to us at the moment. We really need to make sure we beat Leicester in a couple of weeks as I think if we do manage top 4 it will be at the expense of them rather than United.

Arsenal and City are nailed on for top 4, so if Utd get Mourinho in my opinion there is one spot that Chelsea have lost that will be contested by ourselves, Leicester and Liverpool with maybe another surprise team in the mix.

Who knows though, Mourinho could totally flop, but I doubt it as he's still a top class manager regardless of what has happened this season.

IMO, United have the most out of form attacking players in top 6 clubs; Mourinho will certainly get them going. But there is huge gap in class between who he had at Chelsea & who he may have at United. Also, Mourninho never took charge midseason. When he takes over at summer usually, he gets atleast 4 players who would suit him. Juan Mata was already sold by him 2 seasons ago. Whats the inspiration his appointment gives to Mata ?
Mourniho could come good for next season. If he comes in mid season, I really cant see much change in their scoring pattern. If they continue their current scoring form, there is no way they will finish in top6 let alone top4

Am I the only who feels that now we are fourth I am not satisfied. I feel that we can go up to 3rd or even 2nd. In a funny way if we were only to get fourth come May, I would be disappointed. Sounds irrational I know, but what fucking difference the last few months have made.

I want to agree but let's hold on until after the next 2 games.

Agreed.

I have noticed this season - when we do well, in general our fans do not go over board & react at work or in social media. When we were in similar position few years back - I can remember fans including me, were going bonkers & talking and bantering others a bit much. This time though, IMO, Spurs fans have largely kept to themselves. I believe our fan base is quietly confident that we can acheive top 4 and it is nothing to boast about as if its business as usual.

If we win today I will allow myself to start to believe. Only grudgingly though - I'm very very wary of hope.

I think it's hugely important to win the next few to really put us back in the mix at the top and apply the pressure to the current top 3.

The clubs around us have some tricky games now, this is our chance to claw back what points we have missed out on with all those draws.

To be honest I could only see us scrabbling for 5th at the start of the season so anything else would be a huge bonus!

Still far too early to be confident about anything. I think four of the next five games have the potential to be tricky, against teams around us in the league currently.

Watford (a)
Everton (a)
Leicester (h)

Sunderland (h)
Palace (a)

Very much one game at a time for me. If we get through these games with a decent tally of points then we will be well placed, but still a long way to go.

The two key facts that really everyone should be focusing on:

1. We have a goal differential of +17, which is tied with Manchester City as the best in the league.

2. We have dropped more points from a winning position than virtually any team in the league (Stoke, Arsenal, Newcastle, West Brom, Leicester). When you mix-in the additional, numerous games we've been superior to the opposition, but drawn (Swansea, Liverpool, Chelsea, Everton), there is a serious case that if current trends continue, we will be in the title race until the end.

The one wild card is a major injury to one of Jan/Toby or Kane (we don't have the requisite quality cover for those three). Absent that, on what we've seen so far and the turmoil with other clubs, as well as the injury crisis' at City and Arsenal with their best players (Aguero and Sanchez), there's no reason not to only hope for 4th, but aim much higher. Frankly, 3rd should be a minimum this season. That guarantees CL group play and allows you to budget in that extra 40 million pounds guaranteed in summer spending and wage increases.

I honestly think those games could define just how high we can finish this season. They're tough games, bar the Sunderland one, so we'll know a hell of a lot more by this time next month.

9-10 points from 15 would be a good return. Anything higher would be excellent.

Watford on Monday will be a huge test, title chasing teams go to tough grounds and pick up wins.
Arsenal have already won there, we need to follow suit!

4 points from Watford and Everton away is a minimum!

We're going to win the league lads, this side is a match for Barca imo.

Jan and Toby would give Messi and Suarez a run for their money.

It's a really excellent day at the office. Watford were always going to be tough as the second of two games in three days, but we held in there. 6 points from both games is a blinding return. Hopefully Everton's morale is a little dented after today too.
