Cerny

Hutton----Woody----King----Gilberto

Lennon----Jenas----Tainio----Malbranque

Keane----Berbatov

Robbo, Hudd, Bong, Lee/Gunter, O'Hara

If no one's injured I agree with this starting 11. I'm certain Chimbo will be on the bench though. I've also a feeling King will be injured (touch wood he's not), in which case I wouldn't be surprised to see Chimbo partnering Woody, with Kaboul or Daws on the bench. If Tainio's got a knock it'll be JJ and O'Hara in the middle.

Anyone else noticing what a versatile team we seem to have developed into? With every player bar Cerny and Dawson capable of paying multiple positions and able to play them well!

--------------Cerny
Hutton Woodgate King(Dawson) O'Hara
Lennon Jenas Huddlestone Malbranque
------Berbatov---Keane (I will never get used to putting him straight in)
Subs: Robbo Taabrt Tainio Prince Gunter

I reckon that O'Hara played so well against Ronaldo last time he will get the spot again on Saturday. As mentioned above why risk the new left sider be roasted when he can get a gentler introduction later? Huddlestone will also be in there somewhere Ramos seems to value his passing.

I would agree with your line up apart from changing Malb for Gilberto - Brazil first choice now must get a pick, and OHara has played too well to drop. Malb looks like he needs the rest

If King or Woodgate don't make it I wouldn't be surprised to see Chimbonda slotted in at centre back, especially with King and now seemingly Woodgate both being able to play left side he can play right side centre back.

without Robbo on the bench ? too much risky and pressure on Cerny Eek

Ooops! Think I'm defo going loopyer lately!

Yeah you're right mate I would have Robbo on bench of course (or arguably in 1st team but maybe not yet).

I will edit my original post!

Only one and a half out in the starting line up that can't be bad:)

No one got it right!

Who in their right mind would have guessed Chimbonda at left-back though? It's interesting that Ramos does seem to want to mix it up a bit in terms of positions. It's like he doesn't quite believe that the positions that he's been told the players he's inherited play in are correct.

Which is a bit ironic considering the constant gripes about Jol playing men out of position.

unfortunately when Jol was in charge and players were out of position they looked terrified and clueless.

Ramos has stated he likes his full backs to be able to play on both sides and I'd imagine a lot of coaching time is dedicated to it.

Well no, you're taking things into extremes. He rarely played players out of position but when he did they weren't as effective (in the main)

Lennon on the left
Chimbonda at LB
Jenas on RW
Ghaly on RW

All examples where each player didn't look comfortable.

Tainio & Malbranque on the left are exceptions.

Jol has wasted this squad!

The best football we have played in the last 3 years has all been in the last 3 months.

I still can't blame Jol. We've had some poor defensive performances under Ramos, which was always the problem with Jol too. The thing is our good performances with Ramos we've had King or Woodgate such as Arsenal 5-1. I do think Ramos is better at the helm than Jol, but to say Jol wasted this squad doesn't seem fair.

:sleepy::sleepy::sleepy:

You mean, holding on for dear life against Sunderland at home? Taking two games to dispose of a weakened Reading in the cup? Losing at home to Birmingham? Almost getting embarrassed by Aalborg? A flat draw against a poor Anderlecht?

Sorry Ledge, Ramos looks like the genuine business to me, as he does to everyone else, and it really is a pity that the Dear Leader didn't have the guts to go for him in May or June instead of being a vacillating nincompoop, but your efforts to rewrite history and present Jol as a bumbling incompetent who lucked his way to two fifth places are getting increasingly ludicrous.
