Can't help but wonder how much new shoe technology is playing a part in all these incredible world records.

The shoe design has been highly controversial, and Bolt warned that there would be a ton of world records broken and said it was bad for the sport.

Warholm himself said that the worst shoe in 2021 is better than the best shoe 20 years ago. There will always be development but there should indeed be regulations as to what a running shoe really is.

What is the new show technology?

They are using carbon fiber plates that give extra spring, which is not really new technology but designs can always be improved and seems Nike in particular have taken a big stride (pun intended) with their new shoes.

I think the advantage really manifests itself in the longer distances though and not necessarily all that much for sprint disciplines.

 Not surprisingly it was good enough for gold.

I’m no expert, but when she landed that incredible jump the rest of the ride seemed pretty tame. As if she had decided that was enough, now play safe.

not knocking it, but it felt a little like England going 1 up in the final and sitting back to defend the lead.

I get the impression Warholm isn’t too popular amongst his competitors. A run like that and slashing the record would surely have had other runners swarming to congratulate him. All he got am was a couple of handshakes that he instigated

Benjamin downplayed any animosity by basically saying "I thrashed the world record and he did even better, wtf". I think that's a fairly natural reaction tbh.

But Warholm is a bit special, to put it like that. He's so driven I don't really see him as the sort who has a lot of time for friends, a bit like a Cristiano Ronaldo but even more an individual since he doesn't play a team sport.

Bit of farce in GB v Denmark in the velodrome. GB so hopelessly far behind that the Danish pack caught up with the last GB man and they crashed. Don't think I've ever seen that before.

Wouldn't read too much into that. Rai said before the semifinals that he and Karsten have a very good relationship off the track and their supposed rivalry is invented by the media.

Very poor from the Danish guy to should at the GB lad's face. It's not like he has eyes on his arse, he can't have known the Danes were so close.
Pretty standard cyclist behaviour tbf... go too fast, don't look where they're going, cause an accident and then get angry because they think everyone should get out of their way.

Had that last night whilst I was walking the dog, they make me laugh, they think they can go where they want, when they want and at ridiculous speeds and everyone should make way for them. Pricks.

I cycle every day to work but always give way to cars and people, I don't try and get in anyones way. Some cyclists round here though, I think they just like wearing the lycra and hanging out with other lycra dressed people. Weridos.

I blame Bradley Wiggins. It all kicked off after he won Gold in 2012. Now every **** in London is out in lycra clogging up the roads. Richmond Park has been ruined by the twats.

Probably been covered but it’s fucking great to wake up to Sam Quek every morning.

edit: just in case of any confusion I mean on the telly...I’m not married to her.
