Proceeds from testimonials are almost always donated to charity now, they aren't a retirement fund like they used to be. And 10 years isn't a guarantee of a testimonial anymore anyway.

"Fag packet" calculations suggest he has earned about £18.7m over the past nine years (if his average wages over that period are £40k per week). Therefore, I'm sure it's just the prestige of a testimonial and not down to money.

He was good in the 12/13 season (following the summer transfer window where he could've gone to QPR) but he was poor for a lot of last season...

IIRC his brother is Hew Jenkins (or someone else high up at Swansea)

My guess would be that Levy negotiated around the sell on clause for Vorm and effectively swapped Sigg for Davies and got Vorm for free. There was a Newsnow piece a day or so ago more or less saying the same thing.

Lennon will always be one of the younger players in my eyes for some reason. But wow! 10 years.

Vlad was better than Daws IMO...

Daws put in more blocks and clearances, made no more errors, and was far, far better in the air. Sorry, a CB who wins fewer than half his aerial contests doesn't cut it for me, no matter how neat he is on the deck. I grew increasingly less enchanted with Vlad as the season went on, even if he was an upgrade on Caulker.

Without him?? did you watch much of us last year?

Maybe you forgot about Kaboul being out for almost the whole season, Vertonghen having to play at LB and Chiriches suffering injuries and lack of form. No way was Dawson first choice, but he ended up playing more games than most. Like I said, we would have been in bad shape without him.

Very clever from Poch in comments after game about being 5 over in squad. These players that are apparently reluctant to go will soon shift when they realise they won't be named in 25 man squad and no chance of playing at all.

Going public with it, will hopefully entice offers.

Kane, Bentaleb, Davies and Dier can all play at will without being named in the squad. So in reality, there is "only" 1 too many. (Ekotto?). I understood "25" to be more of a preference for Pochettino, rather than obliging to rules and regulations.

Think you may be right, not sure on Davies counting as u21. Also, if we bring in others, we will be further over.

Should encourage more offers though!
