I hope the sensitive itk refers to moving Dawson on. He obviously doesn't want to go and as he's been such a great servant to the club I presume it's getting a bit awkward to kick him out, plus the fact he has a contract.

As for the sensitive itk for who we're buying that has to be MS. I mean seriously, how much more sensitive can that situation be at the moment!

No way Verts is going. Barcelona have just signed Vermaelen on a 5 year contract haven't they?

I think Dier had a good game, all things considered. I think you are way off on your assumption about Soldado though! He has already shown in pre-season that he is looking a lot better than most gave him credit for last season. I understand people's desire to state his lack of goals as a justified reason to get rid, but do you actually look at what he offers other than goals? We all bought into the out and out goalscorer, when we signed him, but not many actually bothered to see past that. I think he offers us something that Poch can see and utilise a lot more effectively than previous managers have thus far. If we just base his game as a greedy poacher, then we might as well just get defoe back. Watch him over this season, and then ask yourself if we have a better, more rounded Soldado than last season.

Unfortunately, we signed him for the goals, not the optional extras.

Unfortunately, we signed him for the goals, not the optional extras.

And supposedly to lead the line in a one striker system. A system we're still playing in a slightly different way. I only see Ade being able to do that effectively enough on a consistent basis. Kane may do one day, but it's too much to expect him to at this stage. Not if we want to get closer to the teams above us anyway.

But wasn't the point of buying Soldado to score goals? I don't think we need another creative player playing off the striker/strikers. He's supposed to score goals. That's his job. If he's not going to be a striker and score goals and we're happy for him to be utilized elsewhere that means we're down to Ade and Harry for the season.

I want him to succeed as we all do. I do think he has real class. But what concerns me is the fact he can't do the one bloody thing we need him to do. The one he ballooned over the bar was appalling today and had that been Townsend or Lennon they'd have been castigated on here. He also mis-controlled a very good opportunity too.

The biggest concern for me today was the number of chances we missed. And against pretty poor opposition. We won't get this many chances against better sides. Everything else in the squad looks pretty good. Just wish we could find a goalscorer, but then isn't everybody!

The chances we missed were from various players though, so the fault can't all be laid at the feet of soldado. What I do see, is Soldado dropping too deep, almost in a false 9 position at times and orchestrating play, which should be the domain of Eriksen. For me, the key to getting him scoring is creativity. People argue that he does not suit the lone striker role, yet at Valencia, he was the lone man, playing a very orthodox lone striker role. The guy was second behind Messi and Ronaldo in the goals scored that last season in Spain. You don't lose that ability to score overnight! Something changed for him last season that was there when he was at Valencia. We played inverted wingers under avb, that in their very nature are designed to score, not supply. Creativity was non-existent from his point of view. How many throughballs found his feet?

In essence, you don't buy a fox in the box and devoid him of his supply. It was only natural therefore that his confidence would suffer. But I see a situation developing under Poch, that will allow Soldado the opportunity to rediscover his goal scoring, yet others are far too quick to judge him on what he did not do last season, in a system that clearly was geared to deprive him of his main attribute. At the end of the season, Poch's system will tell us if he has truly earned our "Rebrov" tag or not.

I agree other players missed chances. Townsend missed the target when he should have scored. Cabellos as the end too. No it wasn't just Soldado, he was just one of a few culprits which what worries me so much. Everyone's missing chances and we won't get as many against better teams.

did we get Soldado ITK?

I LOVE HIM!

to all the people who doubts his ability as a lone striker...give him a chance!! he's already proving in pre-season that it suits him...more so than adebayor and kane in my opinion purely because i feel he is the more intelligent player with better vision. This helps massively in having a fluid attacking 4 in MoPo's philosophy.

Fucking hell, will you lot turn it in. Leave the bloke alone.

You're like junkie fishwives clamouring for your next fix over what is almost certainly fuck-all.

It'll get out eventually without badgering Dov. Anyone expecting something they post on the internet to not be plastered all over the shop within moments is kidding themselves.

Dov's been magnificent in his whoring for all of us this summer so he's earned the right.

sorry about that teaser, i thought ftl was open to anyone but it seems signups are closed at the moment. it wasnt really relevant anyway, just a bit of insight regarding past dealings with swansea - and had nothing to do with potential future business
