Beyond Norman, England, Gough, Campbell and King I struggle to think of absolutely top-drawer CBs we've had.

We all know that Daws time with us is up, his limitations can't be ignored but his attitude and commitment have always been first class and therefore he deserves a bit more respect than some of the posts I've been reading.
More than a LWF or another CM... Leadership, bottle, heart and the stomach for a fight are what's missing from this team and have been for a long time. We've had a soft centre for years, and I for one wish that a few more had Daws attitude.
Is he good enough for where we want to be? No. Does he deserve a bit more respect round these parts? Yes.
Now Danny Rose on the other hand...

Do we really know this? The time a player's time with us is up is when you have better players. Frankly I'm not sure if Eunice will ever get back to his best form and on last seasons form wasn't better than Daws and Vlad was a long way short of PL level.
There are better CB's around than Daws, but then there's better CB's around than Verts, but we have to get them and that isn't always that simple
I have no issue if we can get a better more suited CB than Daws but I can't see any point in selling him whilst Vlad looks a long way short of stepping up and there's big question marks still over Eunice
It's also worrying that we showed a serious lack of leadership, character and desire in anything like enough depth last season and yet the players that provide the bulk of that, Daws and Sandro, we are supposedly thinking of selling.
I hope we have some strong targets in mind if we do, because youthful enthusiasm isn't going to be enough to get as through the tough games we will invariably encounter this coming season
Fantastic post. Really disheartening how slagged off he gets. He is a great person, great servant and although not good enough he isn't shit. I hope he hangs around as back up and hopes he gets his testimonial!
Pretty sure that's the joke mate.Don't mean to be pedantic Barry, but I had a great Aunt called Eunice. The French bloke who plays CB for us is called Younes.

Oh come on mate! Don't pretend you haven't been round there at some point....But how did he know that Japhet had an auntie called Eunice?

Gards said yesterday that he would provide an update...but he didn't
Feel free to quote Casablanca, then. That's from Gone With the Wind.

not sure why he played in midfield for us, Campbell and nethercott were the cb'sGheorghe Popescu might have something to say about that when he's not composing amusing tax returns.
