Did he ever have "it"?Does levy still have “it” in the transfer market though? I think he needs to reprove himself personally.

Absolutely. He did it well in the past when we were in the market for bargains.Does levy still have “it” in the transfer market though? I think he needs to reprove himself personally.
We're in same boat as most of PL teams bar Utd & Chelsea who have massive international income... We will have to sell to buy for example if we raise 60ml through sales 40ml of that will go to transfer incomings.. Lower division clubs are in serious risk of going out of business.. Clubs will be looking for next Maddison rather than taking chances on Foreign exports.. Real danger is break away European LG & that would be death of a lot of lower division clubs.. My view clubs in England should look to NFL in how to survive.. Expand PL into regional divisionsAbsolutely. He did it well in the past when we were in the market for bargains.
But once we were in and around the top 4 we were looking for more established quality and we struggled in this area.
We have no idea where we will be financially once the pandemic is over but Levy definitely needs to reprove himself.

Totally ignoring an agent had to be brought in to negotiate Lo Celso transferBringing in Ndombele, Lo Celso and Bergwijn show Levy has still got it. Lyon initially wanted £75m, Betis circa £80m and Bergwijn is a steal at £27m.
Granted he baulked at paying the inflated market rates for numerous players which hurt us but it’s a tough balancing act between offsetting your spending against your income. There’s no way we could have predicted what has happened with the pandemic but it shows that if you sail to close to the wind that you’ll be in deep shit if the tide turns. Leicester, Everton, Spammers etc are heading for a world of pain.
We’re now in an era where clubs will need to be very creative in the transfer market and that’s something Levy excels at. Whether you like him or not we’ve also got both Mourinho’s pulling power and multiple A list agent connections.
I hope you're right.Bringing in Ndombele, Lo Celso and Bergwijn show Levy has still got it. Lyon initially wanted £75m, Betis circa £80m and Bergwijn is a steal at £27m.

Question for me is what the heck we would want with Ryan Fraser. His best position is on the left wing.
Well there we have Son, Bergwijn and Sessegnon when he is finally trusted to play there some minutes. I could think of 10 other positions on the pitch where we rather need someone.
In their prime Vertonghen and Alderweireld were a great centre back pairing. Rose and Walker were very good at wing back.Actually sounds pretty crazy when you list out Gedson, Bergwijn, Sessegnon, Ndombele, Lo Celso & Clarke and realize its been since Summer 2017 that we've brought in a new defender.. No wonder we suck back there. And sure maybe some people want to call Sessegnon a defender but he wasn't a defender last year at Fulham and I don't think anyone actually expected him to play much LB this season.

Hindsight is 20/20 of course but Poch clearly knew what was going to happen with Vertonghen this season with the early season fiasco between them and everyone knew that fullback was going to be an issue for this team going into the season and last season as well.In their prime Vertonghen and Alderweireld were a great centre back pairing. Rose and Walker were very good at wrong back.
I guess we hoped they'd be around for a long time and Sanchez and Foyth would develop.
Really hasn't worked out though.
I agree.Hindsight is 20/20 of course but Poch clearly knew what was going to happen with Vertonghen this season with the early season fiasco and everyone knew that fullback was going to be an issue for this team going into the season and last season as well.
Think it’s hard to put the signings of trippier and davies alongside aurier, when trippier and davies were bought I don’t think rose and walker were guaranteed starters (may be wrong).I agree.
The signings of Trippier, Aurier and Davies just haven't been good enough to replace Rose or Walker.
They're put alongside them because they are the full backs we bought.Think it’s hard to put the signings of trippier and davies alongside aurier, when trippier and davies were bought I don’t think rose and walker were guaranteed starters (may be wrong).
Rose and walker then went to another level which meant davies and trippier were second choice, altogether they were pretty solid. Both had good spells, but we missed the chance to upgrade on them.
Aurier on the other hand I feel was meant to be walkers replacement and that clearly didn’t work out too well
@synththfc
Out of interest is the wtf rating because you disagree that we ever got good bargains like Bale, Carrick and others?
Do you disagree that we have struggled to buy established players once we were in or around the top 4?
Do you think we know financially where we will be once the pandemic is over?
Do you disagree that Levy needs to reprove himself in the transfer market?
Man if arsenal get partey...., especially given he's exactly the type of player that we need to complete our midfield
Mad he even wants to go there. They want lacazette though, which i suspect the deal could happen. But then Arsenal lose him and Abaumayang in one window.
