Massive next 3 games .... sorry but I predict a probable 3 losses esp after seeing the poor effort up front against Reading
Cant see us matching Citeh anymore now that they are back to their best form
Could get a draw against Manure but they have better forwards so more likely to score but then we will coming off a loss
Cant see us getting anything from the Blue Scum .... so there we have it - probable 3 losses and then a 4th when the Blue Scum come back again almost straight after these.

Dont get fooled by the after match report ... we were not in this game and hanging on by a thread. Yes we lost by a weak goal attempt via panic defending but the 2 City players that started this only goal attack were never even challenged .. Ayanne just stopped chasing and they were left to cross with ease. There was no way we would have held on for a draw not with these stats ... 4 shots and 1 on target is simply not good enough ... also winning 2 corners and only 40% possession at HOME over a full game is very poor.
With players like Spencer Ayanne Green being picked amazes me ... Ayanne for Simon when we have Tang on the bench
Why have Schnaderbach and play Percival at the back .. makes no sense

Swapped goalies again too. I'm not sure why Skinner alternates so much.

Also why play Percival at right back when Ale has done perfectly well there with Neville in front. I wasn't surprised at all when Percival screwed up for the goal.

Sometimes I wonder if Skinner just picks her favorite/best individual players instead of picking the best team.

I can understand Ayanne for Simon, but then Green for Williams at half time? That's when Tang could have gone up front. As it was when she eventually came on we started kicking the ball up in the air and Tang is pretty small!

City were far more athletic, looking taller, stronger and faster. Harrop and Ayanne particularly are nowhere near that level of athleticism. Nice to see Alana Kennedy is playing well for City. She was one of our better players last year and I've no idea why we released her (too high wages?).

Oh well, it was to be expected. 5th is still likely and that would be a relatively successful season. Need 3 or 4 better players to compete with the top 4.

Yep totally agree Gary with all you post .. Green was also on the back post and she doesnt like being hit by the ball so never made an attempt to cover the ball ... as for Kennedy .. her contract like many of those that were moved on in the summer came to an end as she only had a 1 year extension like Shelina and I guess once Citeh came knocking whilst she was on holiday why bother staying at Spurs when they have so many poor players. I'm sure RS made her a decnt offer but Citeh probably doubled that I bet. Shelina being Captain was probably cottonwooled to ensure she stayed.
She and Shelina were by far our best players once Alex Morgan left ... what a hype that was. The least AM could of done was see a season out for the money no doubt she was paid.
I didnt expect a win and 1-0 is better than 5-0 which I expected as soon as I saw Spencer in goal.

I think you're probably right about Kennedy getting an offer from City. Her and Zadorsky were definitely the best players last season.

There's the makings of a team there (they do play some neat and tidy stuff at times) but we need players that can score regularly (or are just able to shoot on target with a bit of venom, really).

They probably need 3 or 4 better players before they are able to start taking on the top 4. Sadly I'm not sure if the players, or the money for them, are out there.

At least 3 or 4 ... for me more like 6 and get rid of the likes of Spencer Ayanne Green Addison Ubogagu Naz ... even Williams and Percival come into the frame (aging now).
Spurs have the money its whether they want to spend and invest in the woman's team is the question.
As far as I know from the internet the average salary is abot 35-75k per season not per week and top Euro players are exchanging for as little as 300k. We seem to wait for free agents as and when their contract expires and invite them to trail based on the holes we need to fill ... NOT go and get the likes of Miedema and make her an offer she cannot refuse. Thought Paratici was also going to look at women transfers as he did at Juve.
Ubogagu is a good example did anyone even look at her playing record !!! ... she has rarely stayed at a club more than one season (7 teams before us bar Orlando pride she lasted one season)... why ... there has to a reason ... she aint good enough so end the contract. What does she bring ... the Real Madrid tag !!! she scored 2 goals in 11 appearances. Useless.

I can't believe they'll find 6 better players because the top 4 will take the cream.

We have quite a lot of players aged 30+. They'll have to keep a few, but which ones?

The only players that I'm pretty sure will stay are the two goalies ('cos they are ok and it's hard to upgrade), Bartrip, Zadorsky, Neville, Summanen ('cos she's just arrived), Graham (if she recovers from her injury), Cho ('cos of the Korean pre-season), Ale and Naz ('cos they are young). Possibly Clemarron. I think Tang and Simon deserve more time and Williams is reliable, but I've no idea what Skinner thinks.

It would definitely be interesting if Paratici got involved with transfers, but does he really know anything about women footballers?

Good point Gary glad of the banter if honest as its quite lonely on this thread ... it only needs an investment of 1-2 million to totally change this team - surely we can find that just for keeping the Spurs brand long term in the WSL game.
Sorry but Naz - not for me - aint good enough.... can run but has no end product in the hard games.
Tang will probably go back to China me thinks as she cannot cope at a full game this level and probably is too small as a striker in the WSL.
Simon I agree needs more time to see if she can adapt and get as good as her partner at the Blue scum.
This leaves room for top drawer players from Europe or the USA but I agree we fast need wing attacks both sides another midfield creative player and 2 strikers ... thats 5 and then replace Spencer with a bigger GK as she is a risk every time she plays. Just dont see what RS sees in her.
As for those on loan ... not sure Heeps nor Morgan will ever make the grade and have never seen Gracie Pearse play but she looks like she could be useful (but another Defender???) we need goal scorers... our GD is +7 and we need to be in the 20's or higher to be top 4.

Watched the game again and yes we were resiliant in defence that I have to admit (bar when they scored and that was clearly Ayanne and Harrops fault for not keeping up with play) ... but Spencer doesnt help by keep kicking the ball out for a throw in iso booting it upfield. If she wants to do this then kick it to the touchline in their half not ours and then starts another attack in our last 3rd. It is almost if she has come from the Lloris school of goalkeeping ... they both are alike. Korpella likes to kick upfield which is better imho and why she should be the No1 not Spencer.
From half time the inclusion of weaker players Ayanna Green and later Addison turned the game their way and they become more dominating. This is why we need better players. As for striking we really just do not have the firepower nor creativity when it matters.

Just seen RS after game interview and once again she says the right things to keep the peace within .. but come on 5 shots in the whole game and with only 3 on target but then they were kicked from half a mile away causing zero problem for their keeper and then bigging up Spencer as a fantastic GK as her reason for not putting Korpela in from the start .... do me a favour. She must think we are all blind.
There were at least 4 - 5 players not good enough in this team display especially 2nd half and thats why we lost the game. Plan which was probably go for a 0-0 draw and get 1 point. I can accept that but bringing on Ayanne and Green over Tang and Schnaderbech was wrong. Cho should have stayed on and gone back to midfield. Throw Harrop up the wing and shore up the defence with Schnaderbeck ... and then Ale for Percival.
Now the Rusky mob next ... probably another 3-5 Nil coming our way and GD to take a bashing towards the minus.
Boy do we need better up front - BIG TIME.

Have to admit I have to apologise for mistaking Green as one of those not covering the back post when they scored their tap in ... it was Bartrip alongside Percival not Green. Both should really have done better but then the cross was not fierce and maybe Spencer could of come for it and fisted it away had she been more alert.
As for Percival as right back .. she did extremely well keeping Hemp at bay most of the time ... wish we could find players like her for both our wings. With Summanen and Cho as STRIKERS for the later stages just goes to show we should have seriously got 1-2 proper strikers in during January window. That has cost us a real chance of CL next season.
We will be lucky to get 5th.

Hmm .. think our +7GD will disappear over the next 2 games and we go into the minus zone along with all the others below us ... it is all up to the Defence now to test how good they really are against the best in the WSL and to minimise the damage as best they can.
Holding Citeh to 1 goal was a great effort .. but the top 4 are already plus 13 right up to 35 and that is what we are up against. Our team aint got a hope in ell getting into the top 4 and staying there without employing top drawer wing attacks and strikers, something Levy should have done for RS in January.

Maybe a blessing in disguise ... the Ruski's get sold and they have to sell their team and play us with the reserves.
That would work

They won't need to be lucky to get 5th. 5th is there for the taking; they just have to win the games against Aston Villa, Everton and Leicester. As we both know it all depends upon scoring goals which we aren't great at...

They are looking more solid but who knows how many Chelsea and Arsenal could score. It may be unfortunate that Covid has struck as playing Arsenal in between their CL games may have been a blessing.

I don't think they need to worry about goal difference; as long as they win against Villa, Everton and Leicester 5th is theirs.

I think Spencer is better than you believe, but probably not as good as Skinner thinks!

Most female goalies could be a bit taller. I remember there was once talk of making the goals a little smaller. Just think how many goals we'd score then!

Yep u may well be right Gary but they also need to learn how to be proper keeper's and be opoen to get batter
Angles - Throw outs - Catching and when not to par a ball - starting a quick attack when the opponent is in their 3rd - making oneself bigger and harder to be beaten - not to waste passes and kicks from goal - not to put the team at a disadvantage by over thinking a back pass (ie 2 touches first). So much to learn to get better.
Korpella and Spencer should train one day a week with the men's GKeeping coach team as should the striker group
The teams should help each orther for the sake of the brand.
