Goes to show if you cant score you cant win and if you cant defend you cant win neither. Poor result but hey its the FAC and there is little chance we can win it like the Conti cup against Citeh - we will get pasted for the same ol reason.
RS - you need to get these players practicing how to kick a ball and how to create/score goals .. not run around yellow cones and playing keep me uppy play games.

Concerning that the blurb from Skinner's interview on the official Twitter is that they need to defend better.

How about putting away chances, it was only 1-1 after 90 and by the updates they should've had three or four. Blaming the defending seems like the wrong focus.

In 28 games against top flight teams since the start of last year they have managed 24 goals.

At times they put together neat passing moves and dominate teams, but the team has one huge problem - and that is scoring goals.

Perhaps Skinner thinks she can win 1-0 every game and so it's always going to be about defending better. Unfortunately, today and in the recent West Ham game, their failure to score a second has come back to hurt them.

I get your point Marty but I have to agree with Gary ... RS has an excuse after each and every game and its wearing a bit thin.
Not to push for a top STRIKER in the window shows she seems to think the likes of Ayanne and Naz are the answer (and they clearly are not - they panic) and at the other end chosing Spencer was wrong - she is a poor GK that brings concern in an area where it really matters. Trying to protect 1-0 for 80 is no excuse at all as they scored 3 in 40 !!!!

Just seen the short hi-lights on this game .... boy we were bad. Good thing it was the FAC cup and not a 3 poinrer but the bottom team will be up for it for sure when they play us again. We caved in big time. Awful.
How can RS be happy with this type of performance and now too late now the window closed to do anything about it up front. Ayane and Naz are not WSL standard (nor is Ubogagu when she is fit again). We def need Tang/Simon and Cho back asaspo.
Just look at the subs bench only 4 players ! and the most important one Korpela not used and calamity Spencer stayed on

Very surprised we didn't sign a striker in the window, a bit like the mens team really. Kit Graham was one of the creatives and scored a few goals but is out for the season. Rachel Williams has been doing well but she needs some help. Hopefully next season they will address this.

Yep - we will for sure survive this season but another massive clearout is necessary if they really want a top Women's team in the WSL. At least another 6 need moving on. The way the last 2-3 games played out we will be back to our usual position of 6/7/8 unless Tang and Simon can find their scoring boots when they get back. Ayanne had she thought first and composed herself she proibably would have scored but she always panic shoots as soon as she sees a white post - same as Naz and this is why poor ol Rachel has to work her socks off trying to be in the right position. The defence yesterday in the latter stages was woeful if that was the best of the hi-lights (hate to see the low lights) - so sad to see.

Morgan loaned to Leicester ? ... 4 days after the window closed and 2 days after they turned us over - hmm how does that work. Lets hope she gets some game time with them but I'm sorry to say she was one of my 6 players that needed to be moved on for better come this Summer .... the others imho are Ayanne Naz Ubogagu Spencer and Green ... then comes Percival Harrop Addison and Neville come the next January window .. thats assuming RS wants a top side built around the rest of the squad who should form the basis of a good side (incl the 2 new signings)

Well the day arrives .. big game tonight in the Midlands as we face Citeh in a semi final.
Well thats the positive part over ... or maybe not as if Kennedy is back into their fold already from Asia then maybe Simon is back for us in which case RS MUST use her as we cannot field another attack with the like of Ayanne / Naz or even Percival at the sharp end.
Tbh .. just cannot see us getting anything from this game as we have gone downhill badly over the last 3 games thanks to the Asia tournament (the loss of 3 players) and our failure to get a STRIKER in. The powers at be are just prepared to accept that we are just a survivor club in the WSL and invest accordingly - zero ambition when and when it matters. Rant over.
I really hope I have to eat my words here but just cannot see that happening.

Well it dint take long did it ... Ayanne doesnt know what she id doing and Spencer in goal is a disaster waiting to happen ... now 1-0 down already. Naz should give up playing and just do athletic running instead - hasnt got an end product.
Woeful already

Embarrasing first half ... made us look like a local school team.
Our team are no where near the skill class of Citeh now they have all their players back fit. Very poor and all we do is pull their shirts as they glide past with speed. As I said embarrasing.
Why the defenders keep passing back to Spencer its so kamikazi - she is a massive risk at the back.

The match report says it all ... 21 attack & shots from Citeh to our big ol 1 ... yes 1 !!!!!
Goes to show we need skillful front players in this team and we had a window to go find them and we clearly didnt.
Ayanne Naz Addison Williams - even Simon did nothing bar one attack on goal when Naz panic'd yet again.
Feel sorry for the 2 that came to us from Arsenal and Finland - they have joined a joke side at best.
Awful.... the worse game I have seen us play this season if not the last 3 seasons in the WSL.

RS says on Twitter - they Reflect Learn and come back Stronger .... wasnt that the same message 3 games ago? hasnt happened has it.
Yes I get she is proud of this and that but she has to admit and surely accept we have too many players not up to this level of play. A bench of 5 says it all (against their 9) and using the wrong GK was the first bad call on her part.
Not sure this team will have the positive mentality nor attitude to wipe these results away so soon and be better in the next WSL game this weekend - it will be massive. Fingers crossed eh !

RS interview .... sorry but it's the same ol excuse ... I do however feel sorry for her as she probably does know deep down that many of these ladies are just not good enough and she cannot say that (at least she recognised Ayanne was close to useless last evening and took her off early 2nd half (she plays as if she is in a daze!) .. but I cannot fathom why she didnt push for STRIKERS .. unless she did and Levy was not interested in paying money to get good talent in. If Simon is indeed a STRIKER then she is either played wrong or she doesnt show it in her play. She will need to move on another 6-9 come the summer otherwise this lacklustre football will carry on infinitum. Yes the team is better than last season but still too far from the level of the top tier and it's now beginning to show.... we have just been lucky and that has run out.

So a double header this weekend .. The Men play Brighton today in the FAC tonight and the Women play tomm in the WSL - also Brighton. On paper that is 4th v's 8th but in reality the 3 teams below us should pass us by soon based on our current form so it will be 7th v's 8th - a taste of last year and back to where we usually sit.
So mid table mediocrity beckons and the nosebleed from being in unusual heights territory will be cured.
The next 2 games are so crucial as we cannot beat the top teams and we have to play them all again soon and we will more and likely get pasted for sure based on Thursday's performance.
I'll keep saying it until our club invest in a lethal front line - which we clearly do not have with the players we have signed.
Pityfall. Cant fault the determination but it is killing the skill from the players who ARE good.... they have no one to pass to and because we cannot score the defence is paying hard for it.

It is week 13 for most although not all teams caught up with their games in hand but just look at the table and it speaks volumes. GD from teams above and around us are 26 / 23 / 14 and 10 ... we are +2 along with Wet Spam and Reading with +1. OK so we are in the positive mix with the other teams on our current level bar the usual top 4 but lets not forget Manue created their team from scratch in the same year they won the Championship and are fast creating a worthy top 4 team ready to take on CL footy next season. We did not and have not and clearly looks like the powers at be didnt want to.
We spent the first season trying to see if the old team - who did well in the lower leagues, could survive in the WSL
They survived but it was lacklustre at best and some were moved on but clearly not enough. The 2nd season the same - we survived although in the end we brought in RS to help develop the management side of things. At the end of the season we moved on 9 and brought in 7 (probably a LEVY things to keep spending down) and it now shows. The 2 lacking were finally sourced this Jan but probably because of Graham out for the whole season. But you cannot get top front line players without raiding top teams and that takes investment and transfer funds and the will to do this. That is what we are missing big time. We have to stop looking a cast-offs and loaners who other clubs cant find room for becos they bought better. We need to go buy 3-4 front players from CL sides and go to the next level. Rant over again.

congrats to Tang Jiali, 1 goal and 1 assist helped China to win the AFC Women's Asian Cup 2022 from 0-2 down

68' Penalty for China. Tang Jiali is ready to take it. And she squeezes it in.
72' Goal China. And just like that, they have equalised. Tang Jiali shows her skills, dribbles past two defenders from a tight space and hurls in a cross. The cross was then converted by Zhang Linyan.
