Yeah, that age difference was the main reason I was supporting Thiem yesterday, since I knew it was more urgent for him to get that slam than it was for Sascha.

It was also Thiem's 4th major final and first win. Murray lost his first 4. Sascha will be back.

Anyone watching?

Somehow I don't think this is going to be one where Murray stages a dramatic comeback from 2 sets down.

I'm watching. It is very weird seeing all these tennis players wrapped up but don't blame them, just looks cold and gloomy.

The US open looked a lot better

I'm not an avid tennis watcher but do watch the grand slams, don't recall I've ever seen konta win a match... Every time is ee her she is losing or lost.

You're going to maintain your record then!

Also looks so weird seeing matches at the French Open played under lights, I quite like it to be honest.

Apparently there's an issue with the balls or something though. I didn't read much of it, just saw a headline with Dan Evans saying he wouldn't even give those balls to a dog to chew :D And I did hear the commentators talking about how Nadal will find the balls.

They're 'heavier' and not as bouncy - Wilson instead of the Babolat they've been using for yonks. Rafa's high bouncing forehands aren't going to bounce so high; = advantage Djokovic, should they meet.

Ahhh interesting, plus with the (for at least so far) heavier courts too it will make a Nadal and Djokovic match very interesting.

I think Djokovic would start as favourite.

Getting a bit ahead of ourselves though!

Had never even heard of the Italian Nadal was facing but his groundstrokes were massive. Looks a good player.

He is. Burst on the scene last year and won the Next Gen finals. Not going to predict how far he might go, but he'll be a top 10 player for sure.

On the women's side this 19 y/o Swatiek gal looks a real star in the making, has pretty much walloped everyone on her way to the final (has not dropped a set). I'm actually intrigued with her title match against Kenin, who just defeated Kvitova pretty convincingly.

Aaaaand Nadal has broken Djokovic twice.

this will go to 4 and no more. He’s still untouchable on clay, it may be the most dominant arena-to-performance connection I’ve ever seen of a single athlete.

Andrey Rublev looking great at the moment ... love the way he plays. Hopefully going to fill the gap with David Ferrer retiring
