I get every one of your points above and in the main agree. But here is where I'm coming from in my original post... Joe Lewis pumping in 150 Million to KEEP us in the CL..by doing just that one act you keep bringing money from CL and winning the odd trophy. I dont want us to BUY trophies like City or that Scum team from West London....
agree it would be nice if Lewis done something like that, but according to @am_yisrael_chai Lewis has no interest in football, even though he was the one that wanted Poch. so he just doesn't like it enough to part with his own money, even though he gave us 50m for the stadium.
the trouble is they are an investment company, and like any owner wants to make the value of their assets, and building a stadium and purchased 23 of our 28 players, and a manager that over his time has brought the 5 youth players through to the 1st team, that have got us to a 5th, 3rd, 2nd, 3rd & ? currently 3rd, at a time we have been building a stadium.
I like the Liverpool model even though some on here are selective with the facts... Theyve sold one or 2 assets and reinvested. So yes they've spent big BUT their net spend is respectable. I dont even want us to buy 60-80 million pound players..... just move on some of the speculative purchases we made and move on players in the current squad who have stagnated and refresh the team.
unfortunately to take us forwards we need those 60-80m players to take us to the next level, unless we can unearth hidden talent, like Brooks and Maddison. we definitely need to get rid of the deadwood as I disagree with what @am_yisrael_chai said about the small cost of paying a guess of 12.5m to players that won't have anything to do but sit at home on their PS4's. that 12.5m could go towards getting in the next batch of youth players, and with City likely to get a 2 window ban like Chelsea now would be the time to strike.
trouble is selling a player like Wanyama because of his injury issues, and also selling other players that won't go because they won't take a big wage drop. the club won't want to take massive hits at the moment because to buy the players we need and who Poch wants cost money, and until we sort a namings right out, get in the stadium without giving massive refunds back to those that refuse to go to Wembley and all at a time, we have had delays that to repair has been overly costly.
I cant wait 10 yrs to pay off a stadium to finally compete and win trophies. Look at Arsenalnow the stadium is paid up by the squad was neglected for years... I dont want us following that model.
you obviously haven't been following to closely. there is no way we will get such a poor namings right deal as they did. we have more corporate than them, 2,062 bigger crowd, and a stadium built for multi purpose use.
the downside though is it has cost a lot more to build than they paid, but the TV pay is a lot higher. I expect it will effect us a lot more than it was before the cost went up due to Brexit and the delays, but we are going to have to be patient and hope for the best, even if it does take 10 years.
