He didn't look great playing for Argentina when I watched them, so judging by all the other Argentinian players when they play for the national team he's probably world class.

Talk in Spanish press is that we've agreed a loan deal for January, currently with no option to buy. Spurs want to make it a 2 year deal whereas Barca want it to be a 1 year deal.

My understanding of him is that he's a good, all round central midfielder. Box to box. Good passer, as you'd expect from a young spaniard. Loves to carry at speed but equally able to clip an accurate cross field pass. Reminds me of Lo Celso to be honest, so he'd be a welcome addition with Eriksen going. We need more of these types of players in our squad IMO.

The reality is that he's unlikely to break through at Barca when they're signing the likes of De Jong from Ajax. He made 17 apps (2 goals) for first team and 8 apps, 3 goals for Barca B, last season.

If it is a loan deal of 1 year, I'm wondering what the point is if Poch does what he often does, chances are Poch will say he's probably not ready to play for most of that time, and all we'd end up doing is paying his wages for a year and barely see him play all bar the odd game or two and the odd subs appearance after 85 mins.

Thoughts on Roca? I know you were hot on Hermoso.
Sorry for delayed reply. He looks a talent. Think raw Busquets. I do wonder for us in this league and manger we may need someone less dynamic and more solely defencive to allow Nd and LC more freedom but he's big and has v good vision. I have seen you post about him and always thought your on point so yes. In general, Espanol are a really good team to follow for talent development. But we are such a fucking mess at the moment I really have no idea what we are after. And Roca would need a manager who knows what he wants in order to transition to another league.

I think it would be fascinating to watch that midfield three but would be interested in how it would work defensively. I do think that once Lo Celso & Ndombele get fully up to speed they will contribute defensively. Lo Celso seems to have that nastiness to get stuck in and Ndombele was fantastic defensively at the end of the Man City game.

I’d get Aurier out the door sharpish in January and get another right back in. Then it’s one problem Poch doesn’t have to fire fight against. Rose can go too actually then that’s two.

The one that interests me is Joe Gomez. Not getting much of a look in at Liverpool and I'd say he's ripe for a bit of 'unsettling'. He can play CB or RB (how handy is that?) and even though he's fit, Klopp played Milner at RB and Loevren at CB in the CL last night.
I’d be all over Joe Gomez - I think he could be a really classy centre back

Talk of Max Aarons - he’d be one to work with and nurture, like Sess; but the two of them as fullbacks could really breathe life in to this team

To be fair mate he doesn't need to fire fight against him now. It's Poch picking him and he doesn't have to. The problem is he obviously doesn't rate KWP one bit or he wouldn't be sticking with Aurier like he has. I know Trips was very vocal against the way Poch was asking him to play as a full back, but it makes the decision to allow him to leave seem even more crazy now.

A bit of energy wouldn’t go amiss. I just want good players who are dependable, do what they are told and aren’t throne to brain farts every single game. Not too much to ask is it!?!?

I suspect it’s because Poch wanted rid of both of them and Trippier was the more saleable. Without going over old ground we should of had a replacement ready in the summer. I fear we won’t but we need to address it on the 1st January.

I agree he doesn’t need to pick him. Rate him or not I’d rather play KWP there. At least he wants to be at the club and Aurier isn’t that much noticeably better than him that it would make that much of a difference.

But all in all it’s on the manager. I could see this happening a mile off though, two years ago. So could lots of people.

If he doesn’t rate kwp his treatment of him seems strange, why keep him around the first team for 3 seasons now playing no football instead of loaning him out? Seems he just been wasting kwp’s time

What I don’t get is Trippier clearly wasn’t anywhere near Walker’s level yet we gave him a new contract and made him 1st choice, that didn’t end well.

We also gave Davies a new contract but rarely play him... he’s a decent defender but too bloody slow.

Then we bigged up KWP in the summer, gave him a new contract and expected him to compete with Aurier. Yet only a few games into the season and all of a sudden he’s not good enough and frozen out.

It’s as if we’re incapable of signing competent full backs and are praying our existing inadequate full backs are going to miraculously do a Bale transformation. It hasn’t happened yet and we’ve paid the price once again.

Some people still call him "the fullback whisperer"
