Sign him up

The kid must be an absolute **** to play/defend against. In the first minute or so of that video, you see him (multiple times) open up space for what appears a perfect shooting opportunity, only for him to spot someone better positioned & play a perfect through ball for a simple finish for the attacker.

Defenders blatantly have no idea what the lad is going to do next, which is why they inevitably end up kicking his legs from underneath him & giving away countless freekicks.

Let's just hope, if we sign him, we have someone who is able to actually take advantage of the numerous set-pieces he's likely to win, rather than someone to just fire it into the wall or over the bar.

I understand people wanting 'worldy' names/signings, but this lad is the epitome of what we call "a Spurs type of player". He has tenacity, work rate & oozes flair.

We'd be crazy not to go for him if there's the slightest chance we can get him.

Grealish appears to have genuine flair, that special something which gets fans off seats. Turning 24 this September, just the right time for Pochettino to get his claws into him.
He's got the flair, I give you that, but does he got the hair too?

Ony thing is his release clause is £45m now, think we'd bite at that price?

We paid £40m for Sanchez so maybe...

Love Lamela. His workrate, his tenacity etc.
But I think it's becoming obvious that due to his injuries he can't be relied on.
If we can (reluctantly) offload him and bring in someone like Grealish, that would be a positive outcome IMO.

I, by way of family, support the Villians too so I can tell you they absolutely love the lad. He oozes maturity and class, he obviously has ability on the field and a great work ethic. Typical Spurs/Poch signing and I think he will step up to the upper echelon of players if Poch gets his hands on him.

Don't snitch me out to my family, but I am secretly hoping they don't win the play offs so we have a clear shot at signing him. If they are promoted it will be a lot bigger of a task to get him in.

You get a 'reluctant' agree from me. Judging by the past few seasons we'd get a load more out of Grealish than we've got out of Lamela (bless him).

Do you all honestly expect much business?

You're all talking like you're playing football manager again.
We don't know if the purse strings are tight, or if Poch is too stubborn to just add bodies to the squad. But there's nothing to indicate we'll go out and start buying household names, if indeed we buy anyone.

We could all be shocked and find Toby and Chris want to hang about. Without selling assets I doubt our pot is big enough to be buying £50m+ players.

I'm sure some one will come along and claim we have a bazillion pound warchest etc, but it has never happened and never will.

Personally, I think Lamela will be a victim of our opportunistic attempt to sign Sessegnon. Would take his position in the squad, as an attacking midfielder, whilst also offering a more attacking LWB option, without the need to sell Davies/Rose.

Why is it so unlikely that we buy players? People act like last summer is the only barometer. Prior to that we regularly signed 3-4 players a summer, so to expect that is hardly wild...is it?

EDIT: Don't say because of the stadium, we've been paying for that for years now, well before the finished product was in place.

Really? From what I can tell from the last couple of pages, the majority seem to be simply speaking about the possibility of signing Jack Grealish & the positives he could bring to our squad.

Doesn't seem football manager-esque to me?

It's fun speculating though.

You must have selective blindness buddy.
There's talk of Bale, Isco, Verane, Pepe, Perisic and quite a few others, mostly from Madrid.

We couldn't even nail the Grealish signing last season. He has a new contract and new owners at Villa. Ain't happening.

Could probably still be after Hazard, but if they are signing:

Pogba
Hazard
Mbappe/Neymar (Unlikely to be Neymar, his dad squashed these rumors yesterday but you never know.)
Felix

That's over £300 million in fees, I highly doubt they would pay the going rate for Eriksen if they do manage to sign their preferred options. They will probably sign other players for certain positions too, so it's looking increasingly unlikely that they will pursue Eriksen unless they use a makeweight or don't get their preferred targets.

BBC gossip this morning (via El Confidencial) suggested Real Madrid have two transfer plans.

One that includes signing Hazard, and a "Luxury plan" that includes brining Pogba & Sadio Mane to the club.

Andre Gomes ticks a few boxed and he's growing on me.
+ good passer from midfield and has EPL experience.
- a bit slow

A typical Levy "non-signing" as well, unfortunately - in that, in the name of saving a few quids Spurs lost out on signing the concerning player. And he's not the first one Spurs lose out in this manner.
Spurs had their chance last summer. Well, Levy most probably couldn't foresee that Villa would get new owner but still he should just have paid up the going rate for Grealish.
I think Levy have done a excellent job for Spurs and I wouldn't have any other chairman but by now he must have understood that few, if any, fall for his delaying tactics that worked in the past in order to get prices dropped. It doesn't work anymore.
If Villa get promoted I can't see him - nor Aarons and Lewis - joining Spurs this summer.

Yeah but that's just wishful thinking & conversation stemming from the suggestion that United have named their price for Pogba, and people thinking about which players that could make available.

Availability doesn't necessarily equate to willingness to sign for our club, or our clubs willingness to target/spend on such players.

However, as has been pointed out countless times since the inception of this thread. It's called the Wish list & Scouting thread. Therefore, people are not doing anything absurd by speaking about, or mentioning players they wish we could sign.
